    Just Another Bush Admin. Scumbag

The track record of Paul Wolfowitz is well known among those of us in the reality-based community. Therefore, his latest scandal should come as no surprise. Now word has leaked out about a four-letter word tirade that surfaced during the investigation concerning massive wage packages given to Shaha Riza, a World Bank employee and Mr Wolfowitz's girlfriend. The UK based newspaper The Guardian reports:
An angry and bitter Paul Wolfowitz poured abuse and threatened retaliations on senior World Bank staff if his orders for pay rises and promotions for his partner were revealed, according to new details published last night.
    *****
Sounding more like a cast member of the Sopranos than an international leader, in testimony by one key witness Mr Wolfowitz declares: "If they fuck with me or Shaha, I have enough on them to fuck themtoo."
Now isn't that a wonderful attitude to represent the United States? Read on.....

Keith Olbermann On Scare Tactics Of Guiliani

As I posted here , Rudy Guliani is now parroting King George and using 911 and all the scare tactics that come with it in his bid for President. Of course if a Democrat wins we won't be safe and a terrorist attack will be definite. The only person who can keep us safe is a Republican President, who of course would be him. Well Keith Olbermann has a view on that. See the video below courtesy of Crooks And Liars and YouTube:

Giuliani Parrots King George - Relies on 911 Scare Tactics

Rudy Giuliani is now appealing to the right-wing crazies in his Presidential election bid. In a stump speech at New England College in Henniker, N.H., he is quoted by Politico.com as saying:
.....if a Democrat is elected president in 2008, America will be at risk for another terrorist attack on the scale of Sept. 11, 2001. But if a Republican is elected, he said, especially if it is him, terrorist attacks can be anticipated and stopped. “If any Republican is elected president - - and I think obviously I would be the best at this - - we will remain on offense and will anticipate what (the terrorists) will do and try to stop them before they do it,” Giuliani said.
This sounds like more of the same to me. The only difference is he can put two sentences together. Other than that, he is no different than George putting 911 in every comment he makes. He has to keep reminding everyone he has the title of "America's Mayor" and now wants it to be "America's President". He then goes on saying:
“This war ends when they stop coming here to kill us! Never ever again will this country ever be on defense waiting for (terrorists) to attack us if I have anything to say about it. And make no mistake, the Democrats want to put us back on defense!”
Wake up people! Unless you want another 4 or 8 years living in fear and giving up more civil liberties and freedoms go ahead and keep a Republican in the White House. Read on.....

    The Politics Of Fear

    As I posted here yesterday,
....governments will definitely carry out an attack on their own people if they have something to gain. Usually the "gain", is to make the citizenry so fearful they will allow the government to impose any sanction on their rights it deems necessary in the name of "Homeland Security".
I would now invite you to read an article I came across at Information Clearing House by By Donna J. Thorne. Here's a snippet:
In this era of perpetual warfare, escalating domestic tyranny, government-sanctioned torture, and a Nazi-like pursuit of Middle-East domination, one would expect, at the very least, an audible outcry from the People who proclaim resolute devotion to the ideals of liberty and justice for all. Yet for the most part, Mainstream America continues to assume a posture of apathy, bitterness, or eery silence. When confronted with hard facts and scientific evidence linking key government officials to the attacks of 9/11, ostensibly intelligent, levelheaded people angrily and defiantly reject said information without a moment's deliberation. Sincerely compassionate and peace-loving individuals support the criminal invasion of Iraq and close their eyes to the U.S. slaughter of 600,000 Iraqi civilians, choosing instead to believe in the myth of American supremacy, at the heart of which lies the notion that foreigners alone are capable of such atrocities.
This is truly a thought-provoking article, which shows us exactly where we're headed. Read On.....

Two Little Girls Bitch Slap Each Other

Now this has just got to be the most hilarious example of two bitches in heat we've seen in a long time. The sad thing about all of this, is that the story behind these two idiots trying to make political hay is utterly tragic. Of course this shouldn't be a surprise to any of us considering they were both part of the same bunch that brought us the Terri Schiavo fiasco. What O'Reilly sadly does not acknowledge in this YouTube video is that a young girl was tragically killed by a drunk driver and he, being the bottom feeder that he is, turned it into his latest political football "illegal aliens" and the rest of the mess brought on by arcane immigration policies . The real story, not being enough for the sick and twisted mind of Bill, instead he jumps on the claim that the driver of the car was an illegal alien. Somehow, somewhere in the depths of the useless grey matter that is supposed to pass for his brain he righteously starts the drumbeat against illegal aliens instead of the problem of drunk driving. You can bet your last dollar that drunk driving kills more people than there are illegal aliens in the entire country. Take a look at how Billy froths at the mouth over a problem that has nothing to do with any immigration problem.
Not content with a young girl run-down by a drunk driver, he has the audacity to go on the air the very next night and rail on about how a mother and her nine children perished in a house fire were "illegal". There is no proof offered that they were "illegal" (as if anyone should even give a tinkers damn in the first place). My guess is simply Bill showing his true xenophobic feelings which look more at "brown" instead of "illegal". Take another look if you can stand it!
I never in the world thought I would have any respect for Geraldo Rivera (hidden locked safes and all) but a shout out goes to Geraldo for forcing us to see exactly what the face of Compassionate Conservatism really is. Also let us not forget they are also the political party who claims the rallying cry of right to life until that child is out of the warmth of mother's womb - then they become illegitimate, illegal, or whatever other label they so hurriedly throw around. Even in his overwhelming grief somehow the father showed what true compassion is all about saying The mayor and Tessa Trachant's father both said that making an issue out of immigration loses the focus that the girls were killed by a man that police said was driving drunk. Ray Trachant said, "We need to heal, and to bring immigration, that's disrespectful to a family who's just mourning." Unfortunately congress, being the enablers they are, spent more time during its' last session either on vacation of debating the burning of the flag. How pitiful.

George's "My Way Or The Highway"Attitude Remains Intact

    Via Raw Story
"They came up and said, 'This is our offer. Take it or leave it. Accept these papers where we've erased 100 pages or more so you don't even know it's on there. Do a closed - door hearing where the public has no idea what was said, and then [of course]not under oath."
So obviously the little dictator that could still believes he and his group of minions need answer to NO ONE. The normally genteel and most respectful Senator from Vermont Sen. Patrick Leahy, had to literally remind the yokel in the White House who is under the delusion that he is really the President, along with his puppet mouthpiece Tony Snowjob that
"What we're told we can get is nothing, nothing, nothing," said Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the Judiciary chairman. "I know he's the decider for the White House -- he's not the decider for the United States Senate."
Video available here. I understand this may be a difficult and unlikeable reality George needs to face up to but wake up to it he must. If not, he and the country is in for a nasty couple of years where nothing will get done thanks to them refusing to realize they are not in the majority (even if definitely slim in the Senate, thanks to Joe LIEbermann and his constant threat to join the Republican ranks). Just in case you missed it, Tony Snowjob seems to be loosing it as well as can be seen by ABC's "Good Morning America." claiming to all far and wide that they have nothing to hide, and are really nice guys willing to give the truth - well their version of it only. Of course this means the meeting is closed to the public, no transcript made available, all based on the assumption that George and the boys (as we have learned for 7 years now)would never ever lie to the Congress or the people who put them there to serve. Of course to no surprise, Democrats rejected Bush's offer -- relayed to Capitol Hill by White House counsel Fred Fielding (remember that name from the Watergate Era?)-- in large part because there would be no transcript and the testimony would not be public. The final and clearest remark regarding the entire matter over the use or non-use of the power of the subpoena and its' "under oath" requirement comes from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NEV) when he said.....
it would be "outrageous," to allow Rove to testify off the record. "Anyone who would take that deal isn't playing with a full deck."
Words so true and if the stubborn dictatorial bunch across the aisle continue to believe they are answerable to no one, it is definitely going to be a rough and nasty next couple of years where nothing is accomplished, and the nation and its' people suffer because of it.

    Edwards Campaign Will Continue

    MSNBC is reporting
The wife of Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards has a recurrence of her cancer, but her husband's campaign for the presidency will go on, the candidate said Thursday. “We are very optimistic about this,” Edwards said. “Having been through some struggles in the past, we know the key is to keep your head up and keep moving.” “We feel incredibly optimistic. I do not expect my life to be significantly different,” Elizabeth Edwards said.
This pleases me to no end, and shows just how loving and decent these two wonderful people are. So much unlike a certain Repub member and rumoured Presidential hopeful who can't even wait long enough for his wife to complete her cancer treatments before serving her with divorce papers while she was hospitalized. So much for those Republican "family"/ "christian" values. I can't help but wonder also, if "Adams Apple Anne" feels any pang of conscience whatsoever after ridiculing and slandering a brave, decent and loving woman's husband and in the process, mocking the loving marriage they have shared these 30 years.

Republican Party Going Over The Cliff

If there was any doubt anywhere about the condition of the Republican Party, there certainly isn't anymore. According to former Congressman Joe Scarborough, "The president is prepared to take his administration and his party over the cliff to prove that he right about Iraq". I never thought I would ever agree with Scarborough on anything since his conservative views are more than I, or any liberal progressive could tolerate. But low and behold he is absolutely correct with his analysis of the Iraq occupation and its' continuation. In his column for MSNBC's political page he even lists all the terrible and deadly decisions made concerning Bush's war in Iraq.
...."the Bush administration was wrong about those weapons, wrong about the nuclear program, wrong about their refusal to quell rioting early, wrong about Bremer’s gutting of the Iraqi army and police force, wrong about refusing to kill or capture al Sadr in 2003, wrong to tell the generals not speak of the coming insurgency, wrong to stubbornly refuse to give generals the troops they needed to win this war, wrong to make the “Mission Accomplished” declaration, wrong for the VP to claim that the insurgency was in its death throes and wrong to push a surge plan that the president’s top generals opposed. The list could continue for pages but I will be generous to the White House and leave it at that."
What more can be said? The only thing I would add is wrong to lie to the American people to illegally invade and occupy of a sovereign country. The Republican party is no longer the party it used to be. It has been hijacked by neocons, and far-right christian zealots like Robertson and Donald Wildman. As long as it remains this way, and it doesn't look as if it will change anytime soon, they will be relegated to has-been status in the world of politics that they so richly deserve and those in the Republican party whose conservative ideology matches people like Scarborough will continue to jump the sinking ship. Scarborough's last comment in his article sums it up nicely. Regarding the "protectors" and supporters of Bush and his "bungling war strategy" he says:
That may not be so bad for George W. Bush in the short run, but it is a disaster for Republicans in 2008 and beyond.
Thank you Joe, may that thought become fact and the Dems continue to make gains in '08 and bring America back to being the moral leader is once was.

Illinois Senate President Causing A Rift In Democratic Black Caucus

Illinois (State) Senate President Emil Jones Jr. (a key political operative for Barack Obama), seems to be trying his best to cause a split in not only the Illinois Black Caucus, but pulling in African-Americans across the country into the controversy. Reporting on a meeting of the Democratic National Committee's black caucus at the winter meeting of the DNC in Washington this past week, the online magazine The Politico reports:
A key supporter of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama urged united African-American support for his presidential bid, questioning whether black Democrats still "owe" Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton their support.
One thing I can definitely say about Jones' speech is Senator Obama better reign this guy in or he will definitely damage his chances in his bid for the Presidency. Again from The Politico
"How long are you going to owe?" politicians for past favors, Jones asked in a speech Friday to more than 100 members of the Democratic National Committee's black caucus and other political operatives gathered at the Washington Hilton for the winter meeting of the DNC, according to people who were there. Jones, a veteran black legislator, implored the black officials and operatives not to act like "crabs in a barrel' " the attendees said, and drag down a successful member of their community.
So in general then, the gist of his comments was 'how long are we going to have to pay back the Clinton's' . I am sure the Clintons do not look upon the support of African-Americans as a dept that has to be paid, and comments like this have no place in the presidential bid of Senator Obama. The primary is supposed to be an exercise in the nominating process to shine a light on the views of candidates, and then determine who is the most qualified person to run for the presidency. It is not supposed to be a process that is conducted to "pay back" some supposed "debt". "How long are you going to owe?" Is this man a total idiot? These types of comments from anyone, let alone a black leader, are nothing but total nonsense. Black voters owe Senator Clinton absolutely nothing for their past support, nor do they owe Senator Obama anything because he is black.

GOP In A Civil War - Scarborough

Joe Scarborough, host of Scarborough Country on MSNBC and former Congressman for Florida's 1st congressional district, from 1995 to 2001 warned the Republican Party it is "headed for civil war" over the congressional response to Iraq. For a change, it looks as though it is the Republicans who are "eating their own" instead of the Democrats. Check out the video below.

    Hypocrisy To The Extreme

Once again Buzz Flash nails it in their choice for Hypocrite of the Week naming King George as the more than deserving recipient.
Welcome back to the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week. Finding a Republican Poobah who is not a hypocrite is as difficult as discovering a woman with a size 2 figure at a Weight Watchers meeting. So we feel sorry that we so often focus on the Bush Administration while leaving other members of the GOP unrecognized, but it’s unavoidable. The Busheviks are just such a fertile source of hypocrisy that you can’t pass them up. Take this past week when Iraq was continuing to spiral to a new nadir of bloodshed, when the Valerie Plame trial revealed that even Bush was in on the outing of a CIA operative, when it looks like Bush and Cheney are about ready to nuke Iran. Given these nightmarish situations, what does Bush do? Well, he goes to Wall Street and lectures corporate honchos on how – and we are not making this up – CEO salaries should be linked to performance.
There is no question about it, this so-called President (even though the designation is a delusional fantasy), is definitely the ultimate hypocrite. More.....

Molly Ivins Succumbs To Breast Cancer

Molly Ivins was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999, and was undergoing treatment for the third time when she passed away at home Wednesday at the age of sixty-two. Molly who had no fear of speaking truth to power was an outspoken critic of George Bush who she knew from the time they were both teenagers in Houston. In fact it was Molly who dubbed him with the name “Shrub.” Rather than getting angry, she was best known for the way she tempered her liberal views with humor by always voicing her criticisms with a contagious smile. In her last column, available here despite her condition she once again showed us her caustic side with this quote about his highness King George...."The president of the United States does not have the sense God gave a duck--so it's up to us. You and me." We have lost an icon - Rest in peace dear Molly.

    It's Official

‘I’m in and I’m in to win’. With those words Senator Hillary made what has been the worst kept secret in the country. I have real mixed feelings about a Hillary campaign run. She carries way too much baggage with her, and you can bet the Repugs will use every tactic in the book (with the help of the corporate controlled media), to sink her presidential run before it even starts. If you think the "swift-boating" of John Kerry was bad, all I can say is you ain't seen nothin' yet. We already know what conservative talking heads like Limbaugh, Coulter, and O'Reilly will do with this. Believe me when I say it's not going to be pretty. Imagine the valentine's day massacre on steroids. Combine that with the attitude of some "liberals" or "progressives" who make up the Democratic base and you have a campaign destined to implode. Watch the video of her announcement.

When Will Bush's Conscience Bother Him?

In a broadcast last week (clip and transcript are available at C & L), CNN's Jack Cafferty asked
“Is 3,006 deaths not enough? How many do you suppose it’ll take before President Bush’s conscience begins to bother him—5,000, 10,000, more?
The words Bush and Conscience shouldn't even even be used in the same sentence, let alone applied to the little dictator who plays dress-up and pretends to be President (or anyone in his family for that matter). Remember George Sr? Take a look at this shining record: 1. As director of the CIA, he funneled enormous amounts of cash to drug runners including Manuel Noriega and helped in the destabilization of Argentina. 2. Facilitated the Iran-contra affair selling Central American cocaine in America and weapons to Iran while using the profits to fund the contras and to overthrow democratically elected socialists in Central America, and 3. As VP, began propping up a dictator by the name of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Although forbidden by congress to do so, he continued to sell chemical and biological weapons to Saddam even after he used them on villages of innocent civilians. Now we have George Jr., and oh what a surprise he names none other than Don Rumsfeld as his Secretary of Defense. This family's entire history is riddled with subterfuge and dead bodies so if anyone is waiting around for him to get a conscience, my advice is don't hold your breath. Hell you can even go back to his Great-Grandfather George Walker to see how this family's history is probably connected to as many deaths as Saddam - probably more. Take a look at Project For An Old American Century it's stunning. Keep in mind that billions of dollars are being made from the current debacle in Iraq (at the expense of thousands US soldiers' lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilian lives) by Halliburton, once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney; Bechtel, once headed by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld; and Trireme, a defense company started by Bush's former Deputy Secretary of Defense Richard Perle.

Dennis Kucinich To Announce Presidential Bid

The Associated Press is reporting that Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) intends to announce his Presidential candidacy tomorrow.
The liberal, anti-war Ohio congressman said he was inspired to run because he disagrees with the way some of his fellow Democrats are handling the war, including approval of a proposal to spend $160 billion more on the conflict. "Democrats were swept into power on Nov. 7 because of widespread voter discontent with the war in Iraq," said Kucinich, 60. "Instead of heeding those concerns and responding with a strong and immediate change in policies and direction, the Democratic congressional leadership seems inclined to continue funding the perpetuation of the war."
Now I am sure this will give the keyboard ninnies of the right-wing blogosphere plenty to chortle about, but sometimes the message that is delivered is much more important than the candidate. I don't think Kucinich believes for one minute he will win the nomination, and neither do I - so go ahead and chortle, bash, and ridicule Dennis Kucinich all you nimbobs on the right, this man is not by any means a whackjob as you so righteously yap. This is a man with an anti-war message, and if I'm not mistaken, this message seems to be in agreement with the majority of your fellow citizens. I would also caution the powers-that-be in the new Democratic majority in congress that if they don't heed this message, they may find themselves on the outside looking in come 2008.
