The True Meaning Of Memorial Day

I ask you to view the video below, and remember those who have died as a result of Bush's War including those who, like Jessica Rich, died in a "non-combat" situation. This was filmed at Camp Casey/Colorado Springs as Jessica was preparing to enter a treatment facility for PTSD . She was killed in a head-on collision and had a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. Friends say she turned to alcohol to forget her memories of the time she spent in Iraq. Many will say doesn't deserve our sympathy or our attention, and that she brought it on herself. I can't agree with that logic. There are so many like Jessica who after giving their all in Iraq, returned home to an uncaring neglectful Government and a disinterested population.
The Last Time I Saw Jessica Rich
Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was recognized by all of the northern states. The South refused to acknowledge the day, honoring their dead on separate days until after World War I (when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died fighting in the Civil War to honoring Americans who died fighting in any war). For more history of Memorial Day visit Memorial Day History.

    Where Is The Outrage?

How long ago was it, 3 weeks? 6 weeks? when all the paragons of virtue in the media and the leaders of the black community rose with one voice demanding the head of Imus for a so-called racist remark. Well my friends please explain to me why these same people are not raising the roof and demanding a boycott of sponsors of Rush Limbaugh. I urge you to view the video below and tell me this isn't a racist piece of crap, yet the Oxycontin man has been playing this song for weeks on his radio show. Some may think of this as just humorous parody of Senator Obama, but in my opinion Limbaugh has seriously crossed the line. You decide.
Once again this blowhard Limbaugh gets a free pass from the media and worse yet, not a word from the two loudest critics of Imus, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. In fact the only person to seriously criticize this parody was Karl Frisch, a spokesman for Media Matters who is quoted in The Swamp (which is a blog from the Washington Bureau of the Chicago Tribune} saying:
“We take these things seriously because there’s a consistent pattern of them making their way into the mainstream media and then the mainstream consciousness, it’s important to shoot these things down.”
This is a very serious issue we are looking at here. It is this kind of racist crap pushed by Limbaugh along with the hate mail and threats against the Senator that are racist in tone, that caused Senator Durbin to approach the Secret Service and the Dept. of Homeland Security and request protection for Senator Obama, and it was given. I have to say it does really bother me however, that the same media and the same black leaders in the country that seemed to be on the cable shows 24-7 have said nothing. In fairness to Sharpton though, according to The Swamp, he did make a statement saying he wouldn't make an issue out of it without talking to the Senator. Fine but where are the rest?More....

    Happy Mother's Day

This in my opinion, is one of the most important celebrations we can take part in. Sure their is St. Paddy's day or New Years, but let's face it those are very self-centered celebrations. Mother's Day? Well there is just nothing comparable to it. Remember, mother gave us life and kept us supplied with most life sustaining nutrients necessary to survive and grow in our warm protection of mother's womb. Then one glorious day, this protector of our very lives for the past 9 months (with a little or a LOT of kicking and prodding), we decide to kick up a big enough rukous that mother comes to our rescue (as she will in later years) and pushes us in the right direction. Let none of us disregard or forget the wonder and glory of a loving mother and remember her on this HER special day including those mom's who have passed on, as the most loving, caring, and sculpting of the true Christian and family values. Definitely not the false and far extreme kind that are rammed down our throats every day by the misguided in power. Enjoy.....
This song was put to music by the artist Jack Marti. The original poem by Tom D. a boy who had been terribly abused (in every sense of the word) and had to be removed from the home of his birth parents. It was written to the mother who adopted him, and also in a sort of a hopeful way to the mother who had allowed him to be abused. Let's please remember the Real Meaning of Mother's Day if you have not done so before, try it this year. I am confident you will be stronger and more loving in the future. For those who care, here are the words in the poem by a child known only to us as Tom D. that Jack Marti so brilliantly turned into a heart-warming song. Please read and enjoy:
    I LOVE YOU MOTHER
WORDS by Tom D. MUSIC by Jack Marti
Love is on my mind. Sometimes it's hard to find. But there is someone out there Who takes the time to show she cares.
She keeps an eye on me When Satan tries to tempt me. She cares when I am ill Even when I go against her will.
She blessed me when I cursed her Though deep inside it hurt her. God made mothers from the start With an understanding heart.
If you're smart you'll love her too Just the same way she loves you. I know that in my heart We will never ever be apart.
She is a wonderful caring woman. And I'm her greatest fan, that's certain. She is so full of love, She is a gift from God above.
I like it when she laughs with me Because it shows our love will always be. Mom, you're the kindest person ever made And our love will never fade.
So don't give up on me You have a heart that sees through me, I love you like no other. I thank God you are my mother.

Support Our Troops - Bring Them Home

We all know that the best way to protect and show support for our troops is to bring them home. Be they American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, or Canadian forces in Afghanistan - damn it! - bring them home. Has not enough blood been shed because of this CONservative President, and our CONservative Prime Minister to quench their miserable thirst? Before everyone starts hitting me with email saying it was the Liberal P.M. that authorized our entry in Afghanistan it was not until Stephen Harper became the latest leader who can have as their claim to fame being Bush's Poodle that things have escalated. From what I have seen the only candidate in the U.S. Presidential contest from either party with a sense of decency about this war is John Edwards, the former Senator from North Carolina. And here in Canada (as in the U.S), the majority of the people want our troops home but those in power refuse to listen. It seems that the New Democratic Party if they ever formed the Government (which is highly unlikely), would end the war and bring our men and women home. SupportTheTroopsEndTheWar.com., is John Edwards new website which blends perfectly with his consistency on the war issue since openly admitted he made a mistake with his vote on the war. Mr. Edwards is calling for all Americans to reclaim their country and its' honor and respect while supporting the troops this Memorial Day weekend:
As patriots, we call on our government to support our troops in the most important way it can - by ending this war and bringing them home.
I suggest Canada follow suit on Canada Day this July 1st. View a message from John Edwards below.

    Autism Speaks

Let's take a break from the madness of politics, and focus on something more important - these children:
Autism Speaks created a music video of the Five for Fighting song, "World", which features images of autistic children and their families. It is a truly moving video and was the work of Bill Shea. The band is generously donating $0.49 to Autism Speaks for each time the video is viewed - the funding goes toward research studies to help find a cure. When you have a moment, please visit the link below to watch the video and pass it along to your friends and family. They are aiming for 10,000 hits, but hopefully we can help them to surpass this goal.

    Don't Believe Your Lying Eyes

Apparently the Bush administration has taken the Winston Churchill quote "History is written by the victors" into the video age. The official White House website is now sporting a very different version of President Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speech. In this exclusive video, Inside Minnesota Politics' Mike McIntee shows how the "Mission Accomplished" banner on the USS Abraham Lincoln has apparently been crudely cropped out of the video.

    "Mission (UN)Accomplished"

In this new Robert Greenwald production, spoken-word artist Steven Connell asks what we've accomplished in the war on Iraq. On the fourth anniversary of the unfurling of Bush's infamous "Mission Accomplished" banner, it's time to propose your own banner. The winning phrase will be made into a bumper sticker.

Keith Olbermann On Scare Tactics Of Guiliani

As I posted here , Rudy Guliani is now parroting King George and using 911 and all the scare tactics that come with it in his bid for President. Of course if a Democrat wins we won't be safe and a terrorist attack will be definite. The only person who can keep us safe is a Republican President, who of course would be him. Well Keith Olbermann has a view on that. See the video below courtesy of Crooks And Liars and YouTube:

Two For The Price Of One

Keith Olbermann gave us the enjoyment of a double smack-down last week, taking on two of the best known scumbags he could possibly pick. First he awarded Fox News talking head Bill O'Reilly a "bronze" medal for defending Republican presidential candidate Tommy Thompson's statement in a speech to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism that "earning money" is "sort of part of the Jewish tradition." Olbermann explained O'Rielly's remark justifying Thompson's statement saying
"Bill-O has now explained there was no insult, nor stereotyping there by Mr. Thompson. He was basically giving the crowd a compliment and saying, 'You're good businesspeople.' "
He then awarded Rush Limbaugh his "Worst person in the world" award for claiming that the perpetrator of the April 16 shootings at Virginia Tech was a "liberal", saying
"This guy had to be a liberal. You start railing against the rich, and all this other -- this guy is a liberal. He was turned into a liberal somewhere along the line. So it's a liberal that committed this act."
As usual, Keith nails it dead on.

Give Fox The Smackdown It Deserves

Hopefully the days of people believing Fox News lives up to its' motto of "Fair And Balanced" have passed. Just in case you happen to be one of those who hasn't realized their con game by now, take a look at this video from Foxattacks.com which shows the many ways they manage a low-blow attack against presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama in every news report they do on him.
Just recently, this announcement was put out by Foxattacks.com,
Success! We stopped both Fox News Democratic presidential debates. Senators Edwards, Obama and Clinton all declined to participate, and the DNC would not officially sanction either debate.
If the Republican National Committee and the Bush Administration want to corrupt the airwaves with their crap, let them buy legitimate commercial time and stop using Fox News as their mouthpiece and calling it a news outlet. Head on over to Foxattacks.com, and see how you too can make a difference and stop this kind of blathering bullshit from getting on the airwaves.

Two Little Girls Bitch Slap Each Other

Now this has just got to be the most hilarious example of two bitches in heat we've seen in a long time. The sad thing about all of this, is that the story behind these two idiots trying to make political hay is utterly tragic. Of course this shouldn't be a surprise to any of us considering they were both part of the same bunch that brought us the Terri Schiavo fiasco. What O'Reilly sadly does not acknowledge in this YouTube video is that a young girl was tragically killed by a drunk driver and he, being the bottom feeder that he is, turned it into his latest political football "illegal aliens" and the rest of the mess brought on by arcane immigration policies . The real story, not being enough for the sick and twisted mind of Bill, instead he jumps on the claim that the driver of the car was an illegal alien. Somehow, somewhere in the depths of the useless grey matter that is supposed to pass for his brain he righteously starts the drumbeat against illegal aliens instead of the problem of drunk driving. You can bet your last dollar that drunk driving kills more people than there are illegal aliens in the entire country. Take a look at how Billy froths at the mouth over a problem that has nothing to do with any immigration problem.
Not content with a young girl run-down by a drunk driver, he has the audacity to go on the air the very next night and rail on about how a mother and her nine children perished in a house fire were "illegal". There is no proof offered that they were "illegal" (as if anyone should even give a tinkers damn in the first place). My guess is simply Bill showing his true xenophobic feelings which look more at "brown" instead of "illegal". Take another look if you can stand it!
I never in the world thought I would have any respect for Geraldo Rivera (hidden locked safes and all) but a shout out goes to Geraldo for forcing us to see exactly what the face of Compassionate Conservatism really is. Also let us not forget they are also the political party who claims the rallying cry of right to life until that child is out of the warmth of mother's womb - then they become illegitimate, illegal, or whatever other label they so hurriedly throw around. Even in his overwhelming grief somehow the father showed what true compassion is all about saying The mayor and Tessa Trachant's father both said that making an issue out of immigration loses the focus that the girls were killed by a man that police said was driving drunk. Ray Trachant said, "We need to heal, and to bring immigration, that's disrespectful to a family who's just mourning." Unfortunately congress, being the enablers they are, spent more time during its' last session either on vacation of debating the burning of the flag. How pitiful.

GOP In A Civil War - Scarborough

Joe Scarborough, host of Scarborough Country on MSNBC and former Congressman for Florida's 1st congressional district, from 1995 to 2001 warned the Republican Party it is "headed for civil war" over the congressional response to Iraq. For a change, it looks as though it is the Republicans who are "eating their own" instead of the Democrats. Check out the video below.

Fear Mongering Alive And Well In SOTU

As he has in every SOTU given since his appointment to President by the Supreme Court, King George again gives us lies, lies, and more lies, Keith Olbermann is there to bring us the truth. Via Raw Story.
In last week's State of the Union address, President Bush mentioned four terror plots that the U.S. has disrupted since 9/11. Expanding on an article by blogger David Swanson, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann prepared a commentary exposing each of Bush's claims as hyperbole, misdirection and unverifiable fear mongering.
