    Just Another Bush Admin. Scumbag

The track record of Paul Wolfowitz is well known among those of us in the reality-based community. Therefore, his latest scandal should come as no surprise. Now word has leaked out about a four-letter word tirade that surfaced during the investigation concerning massive wage packages given to Shaha Riza, a World Bank employee and Mr Wolfowitz's girlfriend. The UK based newspaper The Guardian reports:
An angry and bitter Paul Wolfowitz poured abuse and threatened retaliations on senior World Bank staff if his orders for pay rises and promotions for his partner were revealed, according to new details published last night.
    *****
Sounding more like a cast member of the Sopranos than an international leader, in testimony by one key witness Mr Wolfowitz declares: "If they fuck with me or Shaha, I have enough on them to fuck themtoo."
Now isn't that a wonderful attitude to represent the United States? Read on.....

    Contempt Charge For Gonzales?

Back on May 2nd, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) subpoenaed Alberto Gonzales to turn over all e-mails to or from Karl Rove in connection U.S. attorney scandal. Leahy avoided any possibility of the White House claiming "Executive Privilege" because the subpoena was issued to the Justice Department. Gonzales was given a deadline of 2 p.m today to hand them over. Well that deadline has passed, and still nothing turned over to the Committee. You can rest assured if it was any average Joe, they would be charged with obstruction of justice. It must be demanded of the Judiciary Committee Chairman Leahy to nail this scumbag. He is the Justice for the nation NOT King George. This sure is a nice example to set.

    Dear Mr. President....

This is a touching and heart rendering message to George Bush, while at the same time expressing our own feelings and the questions we all would like to ask of this dictator residing in the people's house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave - recorded by Pink:

Office of Special Counsel To Investigate Rove

According to the L.A. Times, (registration required) the Office of Special Counsel will investigate U.S. attorney firings and other political activities led by Karl Rove. If this is indeed true Land I have no doubt it is}, this will throw the entire Bush Administration into turmoil.
First, the inquiry comes from inside the administration, not from Democrats in Congress. Second, unlike the splintered inquiries being pressed on Capitol Hill, it is expected to be a unified investigation covering many facets of the political operation in which Rove played a leading part. "We will take the evidence where it leads us," Scott J. Bloch, head of the Office of Special Counsel and a presidential appointee, said in an interview Monday. "We will not leave any stone unturned." Most of the time, an obscure federal investigative unit known as the Office of Special Counsel confines itself to monitoring the activities of relatively low-level government employees, stepping in with reprimands and other routine administrative actions for such offenses as discriminating against military personnel or engaging in prohibited political activities. But the Office of Special Counsel is preparing to jump into one of the most sensitive and potentially explosive issues in Washington, launching a broad investigation into key elements of the White House political operations that for more than six years have been headed by chief strategist Karl Rove.
This is awesome news for those of us who were disappointed when the Plame investigation didn't completely expose Rove and his questionable tactics. In fact we may yet get to see the Rove "perp-walk" we've been waiting for.

    The Three Faces Of Death

PNAC planning that has been in effect for years could be closer to reality than many non-conspiracy die-hards believe is possible. So now, when the perfect storm moved into place that gave King George (who likes to play dress up as a warrior), along with (Darth Vader himself) Dick Cheney and then mix in a good helping of Donald Rumsfeld (the apparent S&M expert at the Pentagon) who found a sure-fire way to add even more blood to his own hands than Saddam Hussein - the very person he embraced with enthusiastic friendship when their common enemy was then and appears to be once again, Iran. He along with Alberto the impaler who vigorously defended the Bush administration's decision to detain alleged illegal enemy combatants without protection under the Third Geneva Convention. . The non-applicability of the Geneva Conventionsto cover illegal combatants is disputed by international jurists. Critics feel that Rumsfeld should have been held personally responsible for the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse scandal. Rumsfeld himself said, "These events occurred on my watch as secretary of defense. I am accountable for them." Let's not forget however, this was probably preceded by a few well-placed questions to himself such as 1) Did these incidents occur on my watch? Well golly-be ha-ha-ha they sure did. 2) Does that make me a poor Secretary of Defence? Well heck by golly no under my watch we actually managed to shrink the Pentagons' budget.....that is of course if you don't count the money wasted on faulty equipment obtained from Dicks' and Yours' favorite military contractors. Or the billions upon billions of money that will be needed to assist the traumatized and badly amputated areas of the anatomy that were never even a thought before. This also caused by the Rumsfeld/Cheney Military Outfitters Association. Boy it sure is awfully convenient for the criminals that make up this administration from top to bottom that military investigations into the matters did not find ANY responsible for any wrongdoing.

Office Of Public Integrity Proposed By Speaker Pelosi

Sure, I know it's still too early to call her "Speaker" Pelosi, but what the hell - when you stop and think about it she will soon be the first REAL Speaker of the House since 1994. But I digress. The NYT is reporting that Pelosi and a coalition of bipartisan members will propose a new "Office of Public Integrity" to police the ethics abuses and complaints made against members of Congress, no matter the political party.
Democratic officials, who spoke only if they were not publicly identified because the proposal for the new panel was now being presented to lawmakers, said the prominence of corruption as a concern in the elections last month gave new impetus to such an idea. Read on....
It's difficult to say how this would be accepted overall in the halls of a Congress that has reached record levels of corruption in history. Apparently some are rejecting this for reasons they claim are "unconstitutional", while others stick to the old adage that they alone should be responsible for investigating and policing themselves. How they can even say that with somewhat of a straight face after the last 6 years, only shows just how stuck they are in the pockets of the lobbyists. Ms. Pelosi is demonstrating just how serious she is about corruption in Congress by her recent refusal to allow Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA) to return to his seat on the prestigious and powerful Ways and Means Committee. It'll be very interesting to see just how far this plan goes once it's introduced formally. Hopefully the men and women of Congress will remember quite well the important role ethics played in the election that brought this majority to the Democrats. If they know what's good for them, they had better toe the mark or they will suffer the same fate the Republicans did this year and they themselves did, back in '94 .

    The Delay/Abramoff Scandal - A Look Back

Of course the Delay/Abramoff scandal is old news now, but I thought maybe some of you like myself, may not have had a chance to see this most compelling report from Bill Moyers of PBS.
    "Capitol Crimes"
"It's a dizzying scope of perfidy and politics that boggles the imagination, and although Jack Abramoff and Tom DeLay have been brought down, the system remains as vulnerable as ever," says Bill Moyers. "The scale of corruption still coming to light dwarfs anything since Watergate. In one sense it's the age-old tale of greed, but greed encouraged now by the way our system works. Deep in the plea agreements of Jack Abramoff and his cronies is the admission that they conspired to use campaign contributions to bribe politicians; campaign finance is at the core of the corruption. They took great pains to cover their tracks, and they might have pulled it off except for a handful of honest people, and the work of some enterprising print reporters, Senate investigators, and the ethics team at the department of justice. Following the money in this story leads through a bizarre maze of cocktail parties, golf courses, private jets, four-star restaurants, sweatshops - and the aura of chandeliered rooms frequented by the high and mighty of Washington."
The entire 8 part series entitled Capitol Crimes, is available for viewing HERE....
