All this for the sake of your vanity and stubbornnessThe death of a Texas soldier, announced Sunday by the Pentagon, raised the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq to at least 3,000 since the war began, according to an Associated Press count......Long live your legacy of shame. |
No one can question the brutality of this dictator named Saddam and some will rejoice over his hanging most of them Iraqi's and they have more than earned that right. But personally I find no consolation in the fact he is dead. It simply does not in any way clean King George's bloodied hands.
When he finally gave Texas a break and went to the WH so he could defame the entire country, he had 150 executions notched on his belt. Now he can add one more. This does not however give the complete count of the dead that can be attributed to this murderous bastard. By the time you add the 2,995 military men and women and the thousands upon thousands of Iraqi civilians most of whom did nothing worse that happen to live in Iraq this joke that is the President will have the bloodiest hands in history.
Josh sums it up best:This whole endeavor, from the very start, has been about taking tawdry, cheap acts and dressing them up in a papier-mache grandeur -- phony victory celebrations, ersatz democratization, reconstruction headed up by toadies, con artists and grifters. And this is no different. Hanging Saddam is easy. It's a job, for once, that these folks can actually see through to completion. So this execution, ironically and pathetically, becomes a stand-in for the failures, incompetence and general betrayal of country on every other front that President Bush has brought us.Read on..... This will be his legacy and he has more than earned it. He has also opened the gates of hell and the entire western world will pay the price for generations to come. |
CNN is reporting:Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein has been executed, according to two Arabic language media outlets. Earlier, an Iraqi judge told CNN Hussein would be hanged before dawn on Saturday in Iraq, (10 p.m. Friday ET). The former president was convicted of crimes against humanity in connection with the killings of 148 people in Dujail.Read on....In addition to Hussein, his half-brother Barzan Hassan, Awad Bandar, the Iraqi former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, were also hanged. Labels: Iraq |
Gotta clean that there brush - don't cha know. The president will not ttend Ford's state funeral in the Rotunda on Saturday night, but will return to Washington from his Texas ranch on Monday, pay respects to Ford while his remains lie in state at the Capitol, and speak Tuesday at services for Ford at the National Cathedral.Well I suppose it's understandable this time, after all this is just some guy whose last name is Ford not Schiavo. |
The Associated Press is reporting:An adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saddam would be executed before 6 a.m. Saturday, or 10 p.m. Friday EST. Also to be hanged at that time were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, the adviser said. This should make life much easier now for the US officials from the administrations of St. Ronald Reagan, George Bush the Elder, and of course the current administration of George Bush the Decider. Now all those dirty little secrets he could have told the world about the U.S.'s supplying him with chemical and other weapons, and the outright encouragement of his war with Iran and looking the other way when he first decided to invade Kuwait then turning on him. Look for your usual TV or Radio program to be interrupted with the news, and continuous coverage of just how bad a tyrant he was, but strangely no mention will be made of his "friendship" with Donald Rumsfeld much less the video. I suppose this means "mission accomplished" yet again and now the justification for more US military deaths and the massacre of thousands more innocent Iraqi's will be to spread democracy....ooops they already did that didn't they? So I guess the quagmire continues, and Haliburton and the other ghouls from the military industrial complex President Eisenhower warned against back in 1961 will continue to get rich. Perhaps King George should read this: In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist......Dwight D. Eisenhower |
It appears the US Military under the leadership of the killing machine known as the Bush Administration will do anything to keep the quagmire of Iraq going.
According to Boston.com Pentagon officialsare considering expanding the number of noncitizens in the ranks -- including disputed proposals to open recruiting stations overseas and putting more immigrants on a faster track to US citizenship if they volunteerOf course the always pro-war conservatives at American Enterprise Institute speaking through supposed military scholar Thomas Donnelly says "It works as a military idea and it works in the context of American immigration". The article also quotes other Army officials, who asked not to be identified .... personnel officials are working with Congress and other parts of the government to test the feasibility of going beyond US borders to recruit soldiers and Marines. Currently, Pentagon policy stipulates that only immigrants legally residing in the United States are eligible to enlist. There are currently about 30,000 noncitizens who serve in the US armed forces, making up about 2 percent of the active-duty force, according to statistics from the military and the Council on Foreign Relations. About 100 non-citizens have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. A recent change in US law, however, gave the Pentagon authority to bring immigrants to the United States if it determines it is vital to national security. So far, the Pentagon has not taken advantage of it, but the calls are growing to take use the new authority. Read on....I realize recruiting levels have reached an all-time low, but this is totally ridiculous - unless of course you also have something bigger in the works such as starting a war in Iran. They know damn well what an outcry it would cause if they dared to bring back the draft, so just as they look the other way when big business brings in aliens from Mexico and elsewhere to work at a cheaper wage, they can now wave something even bigger as an incentive CITIZENSHIP. Of course they will neglect to tell them they'll have to dodge bullets and IED's so they can live long enough to claim it. |
While the little emperor turned King George laughed and partied with his murderous enablers from the corporate elite this holiday season, his illegal occupation of Iraq reached yet another new milestone. While he fiddles and Baghdad burns, the death-toll for men and women of the U.S. Military stationed in Iraq (some from their 3rd or 4th tour of duty) surpassed the deaths caused by 911.
From CBS/AP:Seven more American soldiers were killed in Iraq, officials said Tuesday, pushing the U.S. military death toll to at least 2,978 — five more than the number killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. ****** The Sept. 11, 2001, attacks claimed 2,973 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Opponents of President Bush have criticized him for raising the attacks as a justification for the protracted fight in Iraq.HowHow this murderous thug can sleep at night is beyond me. Of course the definition of psychopathy described here most certainly comes to mind when reviewing Little George's actions throughout his entilife.Ae. A mnemonic that can be used to remember the criteria for antisocial personality disorder is CORRUPT: * C - cannot follow law * O - obligations ignored * R - remorselessness * R - recklessness * U - underhandedness * P - planning deficit * T - temperAnd to think he is now supposedly leaning towards increasing troop strength is terrifying in its' potential consequences. Despite the opposition of his joint chiefs of staff and his top commander in the Middle East, General Abizaidaid, from whom he claims to ALWAYS seek advice from. Even his former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Sunday CBS'sS's "Face the Nation" that an attempt this summer to stabilize Baghdad by moving troops there from elsewhere in Iraq had not worked. "I am not persuaded that another surge of troops into Baghdad for the purposes of suppressing this communitarian violence, this civil war, will work" . Yet George "The Decider" continues to follow his own bull-headed agenda propped up by Darth Cheney and the rest of the PNAC cabal whose members include the who's who in tneoconcon movement: RichaArmitageage, William J. BennetJebJeb Bush, Ellen Bork (the daughter of Robert Bork), Dick CheneZalmaymKhalilzadzad, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Richard Perle, the former U.S. Secretary of Defense DonaRumsfeldeld, and PaWolfowitzitz. |
The Emperor turned King turned Dictator is once again in deep crap. Even with polls showing him reaching an all time low in support for his occupation of Iraq, he seems to still show his well-known stubbornness about doing things his way. To hell with advice from the Generals on the ground saying otherwise, he is now determined to increase US forces by 30 to 50 thousand. Where he plans on finding these troops is anyone's guess. And then of course the is also the rumblings of an attack on Iran.
So as usual, he uses his over-played fear card. Take a look:
December 1st from Fox News:The government warned on Thursday of a possible Internet attack on U.S. stock market and banking Web sites from a radical Muslim group, but officials said the threat was unconfirmed and seemed to pose no immediate danger....Another government official said the threat had appeared on a Web site that called for Muslims to destroy American economic sites. The attacks were to be retaliation for the holding of Muslims at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which houses prisoners accused of ties to terrorist groups.December 21st From ABC News: British intelligence and law enforcement officials have passed on a grim assessment to their U.S. counterparts, "It will be a miracle if there isn't a terror attack over the holidays in London," a senior American law enforcement official tells ABCNews.com..... and of course Officials said they could not cite any specific date or target but said al Qaeda had planned previous operations during the Christmas holidays that had been disrupted.December 21st From Reuters: The approach of the year-end holidays has raised general concerns about a possible attack in Europe, but there is no evidence of anything specific or imminent, U.S. officials said on Thursday.....A number of media reports in recent weeks have suggested increasing dangers of an attack in Europe.December 22nd (Australia time) from The Globe & Mail: The Australian government has information that possible terrorist attacks are being planned around Christmas in Indonesia, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said Friday.....And once againMr. Downer offered no details of any potential attacks but said Australians should heed government warnings to reconsider nonessential travel to the world's most populous Muslim country. All this is taking place at the same time the drumbeat towards an attack on Iran. Yesterday, we explained here how the planning has been in place for years by the corporate elite and globalists to destroy three sovereign countries. Robert Pastor, a vice chairman of the CFR task force that created this monster even went so far as to release on report as a book Toward a North American Community: Lessons from the Old World for the New penned under his name.
Vive le Canada.ca has written up a complete timeline of the events leading up to this point here. One of the latest entries is dated September 13, 2006: A Maclean's article on integration notes that according to Ron Covais, the president of the Americas for defence giant Lockheed Martin, a former Pentagon adviser to Dick Cheney, and one of the architects of North American integration, the political will to make deep integration of the continent happen will last only for "less than two years". According to the article, to make sure that the establishment of a North American Union will take place in that time, "The executives have boiled their priorities down to three: the Canadian CEOs are focusing on 'border crossing facilitation,' the Americans have taken on 'regulatory convergence,' and the Mexicans are looking at 'energy integration' in everything from electrical grids to the locating of liquid natural gas terminals. They plan to present recommendations to the ministers in October. This is how the future of North America now promises to be written: not in a sweeping trade agreement on which elections will turn, but by the accretion of hundreds of incremental changes implemented by executive agencies, bureaucracies and regulators.Funny how Dick Cheney's name surfaces yet again in something sinister. Well equally as sinister and downright guaranteed to raise your hackles is this latest headline North American Union leader says merger just crisis away from The Canadian Action Party: Robert Pastor, a leading intellectual force in the move to create an EU-style North American Community, told WND he believes a new 9/11 crisis could be the catalyst to merge the U.S., Mexico and Canada. **** "The 9/11 crisis made Canada and the United States redefine the protection of their borders," Pastor explained. "The debt crisis in Mexico forced the government to adapt a new economic model. The crises oblige the governments to make difficult decisions."How convenient is it that this comes out at the same time there is an escalating deployment of warships and aircraft into the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean region. It also seems quite convenient that some banks have pallets of the new currency Amero locked up in their vaults. I came across quite an interesting article in americanfreepress.net El Presidente Bush and his amigo Vicente Fox are merging Social Security so that illegal fraudsters can loot the trust fund. While the CFR stooges in Washington export American jobs and our manufacturing foundation to potential foes worldwide, Fox is exporting Mexico’s problems—poverty, crime, drugs and disease—to his colony north of the border. ***** Bush and Fox are following globalist marching orders to erase the borders; eradicate the American middle class; abolish the Bill of Rights and eliminate even the pretense of constitutional government; to steal what little wealth and security you have left by replacing worthless federal reserve notes with Ameros—that will be worth even less—and to reduce the American people to serfs. As was stated here earlier, Robert Pastor, a vice chairman of the CFR task force that produced the report “Building a North American Union.” has chosen the name "Amero", saying "It will replace the U.S. dollar, the Canadian dollar and the Mexican peso." I would urge you to read more about this at America Free Press, Canadian Action Party, and Vive le Canada. And remember, this is not tin-foil hat wing-nuttery. This has been in the works for many, many years, as far back as 1921 when The Council on Foreign Relations was founded by Edward Mandell House. The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) , says it will give you “a safer and more prosperous North America” with “freedom, economic opportunity, and strong democratic institutions.” Hey isn't that the same thing they promised Iraq? We all see how that is turning out. What we have here is a blueprint to drive the last nail into what once was THREE sovereign countries. As AFP called it so well - It is NAFTA on steroids. Now that is some list!!!
Remember when Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party ran on a platform of "Standing Up For Canada"? He also promised to run his government with an openness and integrity in contrast to the "corrupt" Liberals. Well I guess we can kiss all that goodbye and chalk it up to more of the same bullshit the Conservatives have always handed to the Canadian electorate.
This has gone well beyond BS and broken promises however. Now we are dealing with absolute treason as well as the other descriptors in my headline. Via Global ResearchMel Hurtig, the founder of the Council of Canadians, and also a variety of other reliable sources including veteran CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, now reveal that senior elected representatives and advisors to the Conservative Party, are currently planning a scheme that would hand over Canada to the Bush regime by 2007. The official name for this scheme, is called "North American Union".I posted part of the story here earlier today, with "Part 2" set for publishing tomorrow. Included in the Global Research article, were further comments by Mel Hurtig, a noted Canadian author and publisher and leader of the National Party of Canada about the "secret" meeting at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Sept. 12-14,of 2006 to draw up plans for the North American Union. "What is sinister about this meeting is that it involved high level government officials and some of the top and most powerful business leaders of the three countries and the North American Forum in organizing the meeting intentionally did not inform the press in any of the three countries," he said. "It was clear that the intention was to keep this important meeting about integrating the three countries out of the public eye."He went on to say not only was this kept quiet to undermine the democratic process, but claims that the reported Agenda undermines the Statutory position of Her Majesty the Queen of Canada, as the constitutional expression of a Canada independent from the U.S. Mr. Hurtig lays out the case showing distinct violations of the Canadian Criminal Code. What would you think if it was announced that Canada was to cease as an independent country as early as 2007? Would it matter to you? Would you want to know who was responsible? What would you do?
Uh-oh you say, canuk's wearing his tin-foil hat again to give us another conspiracy theory. Well my friends, I wish what I am about to post WAS some kind of tin-foil hat conspiracy, but unfortunately this is all to true. I know the reputation that precedes any mention of even the existence of a news organization called "World Net Daily" and I have to say I totally agree with you. IMO any newspaper that promotes the likes of Ann Coulter, and has headlines such as "Boy, 5, accused of sex harassment" should definitely be read with much scepticism.
The thing is, there are other more reputable media that are reporting this story. With the exception of the Corporate Controlled Media here in Canada and the US.
First let's take a look at the history courtesy of Global Research.ca. The Centre for Research on Globalisation was established on Sept. 9, 2001, just two days before the horrific happenings on September 11, 2001. Immediately following 9-11, the Centre became not only the authoritative voice on Global Research but also, a major news source on the New World Order and Washington's "war on terrorism". More from the history of GlobalResearch.ca can be found here in their about us section.
Let's get back to the history of the concept of a North American Union. The first meeting (that we are aware of with certainty), took place on or around March 23, 2005. At that time, in Waco, Texas, working under the North American Free Trade Agreement office in the Department of Commerce, it was decided to implement the Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP, (take note this is a link to an official US Government site) signed by President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and then-Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. Just one problem here (or should I say 3), Bush had NO AUTHORIZATION to sign this document from Congress. NO AUTHORIZATION had been give to then Prime Minister Paul Martin from the Canadian Parliament, and to my knowledge Vincente Fox also kept his government in the dark about this. This is where World Net Daily enters the picture, starts investigating and printed their story by Jerome R. Corsi on June 13, 2006. Corsi has been somewhat blackballed because he is seen as being an assistant somehow to the Swiftboat attack on Sen. John Kerry. Well the criticism is justified. For what Corsi had done was co-author the book "swiftboating" John Kerry. This only seems to legitimatize what he has written about this issue which by no stretch of the imagination shows Bush et al in a favorable light. WND in their report states:Many SPP working groups appear to be working toward achieving specific objectives as defined by a May 2005 Council on Foreign Relations task force report, which presented a blueprint for expanding the SPP agreement into a North American Union that would merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a new governmental form.WND referring to the SPP joint declaration titled "Building a North American Community," stated: The Task Force is pleased to provide specific advice on how the partnership can be pursued and realized. To that end, the Task Force proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. We propose a community based on the principle affirmed in the March 2005 Joint Statement of the three leaders that "our security and prosperity are mutually dependent and complementary." Its boundaries will be defined by a common external tariff and an outer security perimeter within which the movement of people, products, and capital will be legal, orderly, and safe. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America. You can read the CFR plans for the future Here.... and what big plans they are. Well you say, there has been an election in Canada and Mexico with a change of power to the Conservatives in both. I don't know about Mexico, but here in Canada, you can see why PM Harper is also known as "Bush Lite". Let me explain something to you not only was former PM Martin a Liberal, he was also an extremely rich globalist. As for Harper he is also, and actually salivates at the far right agenda of King George and his minions. Let's go back to the reporting of Global Research Don Nordin writing back on September 16, 2006 had this to say Well, during the last week there have been announcements from at least two sources that Canada will soon cease to exist as a sovereign country . The first notice I received was in the form of an Aug. 18 email from Connie Fogal, leader of the Canadian Action Party. The email includes a bulletin from the Fraser Institute entitled, "The Case for the Amero: The Institutions of a North American Monetary Union." A statement near the end of the bulletin reads, "On the day the North American Monetary Union is created--perhaps on January 1, 2010--Canada, the United States, and Mexico will replace their national currencies with the Amero. On that day, all American dollar notes and coins will be exchanged at the rate of one US dollar for one Amero." Then much worst news came. On August 30 I received, indirectly from an email correspondent, an article from 'Vivelecanada.ca' entitled, "Timeline of the Progress Towards a North American Union". At the end of the timeline it projected that the North American Union would be created in 2007, three years before the projection of the Fraser Institute! You might ask how we got into a situation where our country would be dismantled without our consent. Well, from World Net Daily we read that "the White House has established working groups, under the North American Free Trade Agreement office in the Department of Commerce, to implement the Security and Prosperity Partnership (also called the North American Union) signed by President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and then Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin in Waco, Texas, March 23, 2005". This was done without authorization of the U.S. Congress or any level of government in all three countries as far as I am able to ascertain.I urge you to please Read on...... What the hell is going on? Did no one not even the Democrats hear the fuckin' message the voters gave out on November 7th?
Presidential hopeful and media whore John McCain, and now King George seem to be sending out trial balloons to make the "New Direction" called for in the ISG report mean sending in even more troops. Even worse, we now have leading Democrats like incoming Senate Majority Leader Democratic Harry Reid saying over the weekend he would support a short-term increase in American troops in Iraq if it were part of a broader withdrawal plan. This is just damn nuts, and if the Democrats agree to this plan then every damn one of them that does needs to be turfed right out of office and sent packing to where they came from before Nov. 7th.
Thankfully, despite the way Hillary Clinton has been labeled a "war-hawk" she has come out against any troop increase. In a statement to MSNBC
“Everyone knows there is no military solution to the difficulties we face in Iraq,” said Clinton, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “There has to be a broad-based comprehensive approach that includes resolving some of the political issues, bringing the region together.”In addition to Clinton, former Sec. of State Colin Powell also threw cold water on Bush and McCain's plans. “The recent speculation in the press regarding an increase of 20,000 to 30,000 or even 50,000 troops in Iraq has left me with many concerns. Everything I’ve heard and everything I know to be true lead me to believe that this increase at best won’t change a thing, and at worst could exacerbate the situation even further. I am also extremely concerned about the additional burden that would be placed on the Army and Marine Corps. “The Iraqis need to understand that responsibility for the future of that country is theirs. Beginning the redeployment of some number of American forces would send that message. I urge the President to carefully consider this option to help move the political situation in Iraq forward. Read on....Hopefully more sensible heads will prevail in both Houses of Congress and the other members will heed these opinions wisely. |
When is the public going to finally wake up and see these right-wing christian extremists for the hypocritical nut jobs they truly are?
We start off this post with news from The Denver Post that yet another leader of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs has stepped down after fessing up to what is described by Associate Pastor Rob Brendle as "a series of decisions displaying poor judgment, including one incident of sexual misconduct several years ago". The executive staff member Christopher Beard, was the head of a ministry that trained young adults in leadership skills. Brendle would not discuss the matter claiming it was a "private personnel issue", but that it did not involve a minor or former minister Ted Haggard.
Ted Haggard? New Life Church? Does that ring a bell? Well that's because this is the same church Senior Pastor Ted Haggard resigned from recently after admitting to a drug and sexual relationship with a paid male escort/professional masseuse. I don't know about you, but I have to wonder if there is something in the water in Colorado. Naw silly me - it's all those Soybean products they use since World Nut [er I mean] Net Daily claims Soy is feminizing, "and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality".
Now to top things off, we have Focus on the Families' James Dobson claiming in a guest editorial about Mary Cheney's pregnancy with her partner Heather Poe for Time Magazine titled "Two Mommies Is One Too Many"With all due respect to Cheney and her partner, Heather Poe, the majority of more than 30 years of social-science evidence indicates that children do best on every measure of well-being when raised by their married mother and father. He then went on to quote research from New York University Professor Carol Gilligan, PhD, to back up his moronic claim. Professor Gilligan was none to pleased, and demanded an immediate and public apology and to cease and desist from using her research to legitimatize his hate-filled propaganda in the future. The complete text of her letter to Dobson is available here. Labels: Corruption. Hypocrisy |
Iran along with The Arab League and The Gulf Cooperation Council which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are demanding the U.N. and the Security Council in particular, to exert pressure on Israel "to open its nuclear facilities in a transparent manner".
According to a report from The Australian, during an interview with a German television station the Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert seemed to include Israel as one of the countries that possess nuclear weapons."We never threatened any nation with annihilation. Iran openly, explicitly and publicly threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as France, America, Russia and Israel?" he asked.A statement by Mohammed Ali Hosseini Iran's foreign ministry spokesman called Olmert's comments a confession and demanded action from the United Nations. "This confession shows the real threat to security and stability in the Middle East, and it shows this regime's evil plans to carry out threats, a terror strategy and continued occupation."Both groups are demanding action under Chapter VII of the UN charter which deals with action the Security Council might take regarding threats to the peace, breaches of the peace and acts of aggression. Read on... I find it quite interesting that doing a google search, the only news wire that is carrying this information is Agence France-Presse that I used here and the Jerusalem Bureau of the Associated Press through My Way So much for our Bush-loving media. |
Has anyone else noticed or is it just me but I'm beginning to feel the Media is performing a form of death watch over the sudden illness of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD). The Senator underwent brain surgery for what is described as intracerebral bleeding. However to hear the media tell it (particularly Fox), everyone (meaning Republicans of course) is all but ready to fill his vacant seat in the Senate.
Media Matters has the rundown, and the video. so you can watch Fox's Bret Hume and Neil Cavuto practically salivating with reports that were the Senator to become "incapacitated" or "unable to serve in any way," or his condition were to "worsen," then South Dakota Gov. Michael Rounds (R) would appoint a replacement to take Johnson's seat until the 2008 general election. Don't get all excited oh fair and balanced Fox reporters, because as Media Matters correctly points outthe U.S. Constitution states that the governor may appoint a replacement senator only if Johnson's seat becomes vacant and, in contrast with provisions concerning the presidency, includes no provision allowing officials to declare that a senator is incapable of serving. Indeed, several senators have remained in office despite significant infirmities. As a matter of fact, according to a statement released by the Attending Physician of the United States Capitol Admiral John Eisold, “Senator Tim Johnson has continued to have an uncomplicated post-operative course. Specifically, he has been appropriately responsive to both word and touch. No further surgical intervention has been required.” So take your valium and Vicodin all you low-life Republicans hoping for the worst. You're quickly becoming quite nauseating. As an aside, I will add that I have a sister who had this happen whe she was 63, (and yes I know every case is different), she is now healthy and happy at age 75. |
While the main focus about nuclear weapons is on the mideast - particularly Iran, Truthdig has published a truly frightening account that brings our attention back to Russia and North Korea.Thankfully it is only this year’s Homeland Defense Exercise, currently being conducted by the U.S. Northern Command,This week, the international crisis that started in September with U.S. discovery of stepped-up uranium enrichment activities in Iran is expected to trigger a nuclear war between Russia and the United States. In the past few weeks, international attempts to defuse the crisis failed, as Russia, supported by China and North Korea, increased the readiness of its armed forces and made several threatening moves. In his address to the citizens of Russia, President Valdimir Putin called the situation “grave” and expelled U.S. diplomats from Moscow. President Bush invoked the War Powers Act. A Russian reconnaissance plane collided in midair with a U.S. plane in the vicinity of U.S. ballistic missile defense installations. It is expected that in the next few days, Russia will launch a strategic nuclear strike at American command centers and armed forces. The U.S. will retaliate.Read on....An Editor's Note quotes a former arms control expert in the Soviet Union argues that Bush, in his obsession with North Korea and Iran’s relatively minuscule nuclear threat, has effectively ignored the much more perilous threat of Russia’s 10,000-strong nuclear arsenal. That may well be the case, but as Washington Post columnist William Arkin in his blog called "Early Warning", has penned a stunning post that will terrify you, while at the same time infuriate you that these yokels are conducting nuclear war-games instead of concentrating as they should on the next terror attack or natural disaster like Katrina. Both of these are far more probable that a nuclear conflagration with Russia or North Korea. As Arkin correctly points out, this exercise is "particularly childish, a massive waste of money and an insult to the country". The two fears I have of a nuclear conflagration is if King George has allowed safeguards that should be in place become lax, and that this Pretend "Wartime" President is the one with his finger on the button. |
Or perhaps it should be while he plays the guitar as he did during Katrina.
Yet another atrocity took place overnight, while George has his magical mystery listening tour about Iraq. The Associated Press reports this morning that gunmen posing as Iraqi police pulled off a second mass kidnapping The attackers drove up to the busy al-Sanak area in about 10 sport utility vehicles and began rounding up shop owners and bystanders. Two police officers said 50 to 70 people were abducted. The al-Sanak area — one of the capital's main commercial districts — holds stores selling auto spare parts, agricultural equipment and the small power generators that are ubiquitous in Baghdad due to severe power shortages.Read on....Of course as usual no matter what happens over there, whether it is hundreds of injuries or death to members of the U.S. Service Men and Women or innocent Iraqi citizens, all is fine according to this corrupt regime in the WH. |
Sure, I know it's still too early to call her "Speaker" Pelosi, but what the hell - when you stop and think about it she will soon be the first REAL Speaker of the House since 1994.
But I digress. The NYT is reporting that Pelosi and a coalition of bipartisan members will propose a new "Office of Public Integrity" to police the ethics abuses and complaints made against members of Congress, no matter the political party.Democratic officials, who spoke only if they were not publicly identified because the proposal for the new panel was now being presented to lawmakers, said the prominence of corruption as a concern in the elections last month gave new impetus to such an idea.Read on....It's difficult to say how this would be accepted overall in the halls of a Congress that has reached record levels of corruption in history. Apparently some are rejecting this for reasons they claim are "unconstitutional", while others stick to the old adage that they alone should be responsible for investigating and policing themselves. How they can even say that with somewhat of a straight face after the last 6 years, only shows just how stuck they are in the pockets of the lobbyists. Ms. Pelosi is demonstrating just how serious she is about corruption in Congress by her recent refusal to allow Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA) to return to his seat on the prestigious and powerful Ways and Means Committee. It'll be very interesting to see just how far this plan goes once it's introduced formally. Hopefully the men and women of Congress will remember quite well the important role ethics played in the election that brought this majority to the Democrats. If they know what's good for them, they had better toe the mark or they will suffer the same fate the Republicans did this year and they themselves did, back in '94 . A new CBS News poll shows the percentage of Americans who approve of the way the Pretend President is handling the Iraq war at a new low.Americans believe the war in Iraq is going badly and getting worse, and think it's time for the U.S. either to change its strategy or start getting out, according to a CBS News poll. Just 21 percent approve of President Bush's handling of the war, the lowest number he's ever received, and an 8-point drop from just a month ago. Most of that drop has been among Republicans and conservatives. Three-quarters of Americans disapprove of how the president is handling Iraq. Read on.....Of course as I posted earlier, the King and his minions still refuse to accept any of the recommendations from the ISG but they just love the tagline of "The New Way Forward", for his latest plan to salvage the mission in Iraq. I guess "Stay The Course" has gone the way of his other strategies. Courtesy of Huffington Post, we remember these: 2001: GATHERING THREAT 2002: AXIS OF EVIL 2003: SLAM DUNK SHOCK AND AWE MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 2004: FIGHT 'EM THERE, NOT HERE 2005: LAST THROES ADAPT TO WIN STAY THE COURSE 2006: NEW WAY FORWARDAnd so it go's on and on and on. |
The Associated Press is reporting that Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) intends to announce his Presidential candidacy tomorrow. The liberal, anti-war Ohio congressman said he was inspired to run because he disagrees with the way some of his fellow Democrats are handling the war, including approval of a proposal to spend $160 billion more on the conflict. "Democrats were swept into power on Nov. 7 because of widespread voter discontent with the war in Iraq," said Kucinich, 60. "Instead of heeding those concerns and responding with a strong and immediate change in policies and direction, the Democratic congressional leadership seems inclined to continue funding the perpetuation of the war."Now I am sure this will give the keyboard ninnies of the right-wing blogosphere plenty to chortle about, but sometimes the message that is delivered is much more important than the candidate. I don't think Kucinich believes for one minute he will win the nomination, and neither do I - so go ahead and chortle, bash, and ridicule Dennis Kucinich all you nimbobs on the right, this man is not by any means a whackjob as you so righteously yap. This is a man with an anti-war message, and if I'm not mistaken, this message seems to be in agreement with the majority of your fellow citizens. I would also caution the powers-that-be in the new Democratic majority in congress that if they don't heed this message, they may find themselves on the outside looking in come 2008. It's not enough that most of the MSM are nothing more than shills for the Bush administration, now they have taken to attacking one of their one of their own. If anything, David Gregory of NBC strikes me as hardly being either a progressive or a liberal. However, simply because he had the audacity to ask if the ISG report was "a rejection of this president's handling of the war", numerous conservative media figures attacked Gregory, calling him "angry," "partisan," "grouchy," and "ignorant," and claiming that he is "doing this for personal gain." Media Matters has the story. Labels: Media |
Poor George. He had one helluva time last week didn't he? From the New York Daily NewsNot since Bill Clinton forlornly insisted that "the President is still relevant" after being trounced in the 1994 mid-term elections has a President struggled so hard to salvage his political traction. In 72 hours last week, a bipartisan commission harshly repudiated Bush's Iraq policy. Incoming Secretary of Defense Robert Gates told senators the U.S. isn't winning the war. Then a British journalist snarkily asked at a White House press conference if Bush weren't "in denial" about Iraq. ****** "He'll be fine but he can't be doing very good," said a well-placed Bush source who talks with the President often. "It's been a terrible year, and it keeps getting worse." Yet Bush is described by another recent visitor as still resolutely defiant, convinced history will ultimately vindicate him. "I'll be dead when they get it right," he said during an Oval Office meeting last week. Read on.....Doesn't that just make you want to cry? I don't mean for him but for the rest of us who have to put up with this immature little boy for two more years Labels: Bush |
Not that that's any surprise where he is concerned, after all he did come to the WH from that bastion of truth Fox News.
Sunday in an interview on ABC's "This Week", Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) slammed the Bush policy and its' actions in Iraq.Q Okay. Republican Senator Gordon Smith, last week, said, "Our soldiers patrolling the same streets in the same way, being blown up by the same bombs day after day, it's absurd. It may even be criminal," and that he can no longer support this. What is your reaction to a Republican senator saying that what's going on right now in Iraq is criminal? MR. SNOW: Well, we dispute the "criminal" part, obviously, and at the same time, understand the senator's concern. We share the concern about not doing well enough fast enough. But do not assume that people are simply being blown up. They are on missions. And as General Corelli said last week, "There's not an engagement our people have lost, but it is still important to continue the work of building greater capability and capacity on the part of the Iraqi government and helping them out." People on both sides are going to have disagreements, much as Joe Lieberman, formerly a Democrat, apparently run out of his party for disagreeing with what was seen as orthodoxy at that time, but Gordon -- Q Republican Senator Smith is challenging the strategy. What he basically said yesterday, as well, was, when you do the same thing over and over again without a clear strategy for victory, that is dereliction, that is deeply immoral. Such is the dispute. He's saying what the President is doing is immoral. MR. SNOW: Well, then we disagree. Q Tony, first of all, the -- Q You're just going to blow it off? A Republican senator is saying the President's policy may be criminal and it's immoral, and you're just saying, we just disagree? MR. SNOW: And what would you like me to say? Should I do duels at 10 paces? Q Don't you think you should answer for that? You're saying -- you've said from this podium over and over that the strategy is a victory, right? And you have a Republican senator is saying there is no clear strategy, that you don't have a strategy. MR. SNOW: Well, let's let Senator Smith hear what the President has to say. We understand that this is a time where politics are emotional in the wake of an election. And you know what? Senator Smith is entitled to his opinion. But I'm not sure exactly what you would like -- Q Well, how about answering the central thrust about the strategy, not about, like, politics -- MR. SNOW: Okay, the strategy is pretty simple. If you take a look, for instance -- if you take a look at the Baker-Hamilton commission report, what do they talk about? They talk about building greater capability on the part of the Iraqis so that you can have an Iraqi government that governs itself, sustains itself, defends itself, who's ally in the war on terror is a democracy. I don't think it's immoral to be a democracy. I don't think it's immoral to have a state that is able to stand up and defend itself against acts of terror. I don't think it's immoral to defend the Iraqi people against acts of terrorism aimed at Muslims. Q The Senator is not saying that's immoral. He's saying that the U.S. -- he's saying, of course democracy is a great goal -- MR. SNOW: You know what, Ed? Ed, I'll tell you what. You're engaging in an argument and you're trying to fill in the gaps in a -- Q It's not an argument. It's a Republican senator saying it, not me. It's a Republican senator saying it, and he's not -- MR. SNOW: Then tell me exactly what -- Q -- of course he's in favor of democracy. MR. SNOW: Tell me -- Q Are you saying Republican Senator Smith is not in favor of democracy? MR. SNOW: Well, I don't know. You just said he said it's immoral; when I listed the elements of the policy, you said that's not what he was talking about. So please tell me what he was talking about.Wow!! There appears to be quite an implosion going on in the halls of the White House. I don't relish this taking place, because it seems to me that when this administration is imploding, that is when they are the most dangerous. Let's hope they don't choose to use Iran as a way to prove that they're in favor of democracy. The entire transcript of the press briefing is available HERE.... Senator Smith's previous statement on the Iraq policy when he referred to it a "criminal",is available for viewing at Think Progress |
It appears as though the only thing the Pretend President will take to heart from the ISG report, is the slogan. Newsweek is reporting in next weeks issue"Bush is expected to announce what he calls 'The New Way Forward,' his latest plan to salvage the mission in Iraq."So get ready for it everyone, now instead of hearing "Stay the Course" every time someone from this administration and its' talking heads opens their mouth the latest so-called strategy will be labeled "The New Way Forward". Arianna brings to our attention how The NYT refers to the fact that King George is as expected, distancing himself from the ISG suggestions on Iraq "Administration officials say their preliminary review of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group's recommendations has concluded that many of its key proposals are impractical or unrealistic."Retorts Arianna in a way only she can do, Thank God we have George Bush to protect us from doing anything impractical or unrealistic in the Middle East. Just as I said in an earlier post, Of course as Georgie did with his daddy or any other person of authority with a touch of intelligence, he will do nothing but show phony self-righteous indignation, pout like a baby, and do exactly the opposite.I take no pleasure in saying I was correct. Unfortunately, this will lead only to more death and destruction, and if they can find a way to do it, bomb the hell out of Iraq. We can only hope this time they don't stage another "terrorist attack" and blame this one on Iran. Read Arianna's entire post at The Huffington Post. Labels: George Bush, Iraq |
Kofi Annan delivered some well placed jabs at King George and his administration today in his farewell address at Harry Truman's presidential library in Independence, Missouri.
Annan was particularly hard on Georgie regarding the invasion of Iraq without UN authorization:"When power, especially military force, is used, the world will consider it legitimate only when convinced that it is being used for the right purpose, for broadly shared aims, in accordance with broadly accepted norms."Much like a father chastising his son (which unfortunately Georgie's daddy failed to do), Kofi Annan (while praising Harry Truman), appeared to tell him: "As President Truman said, the responsibility of the great states is to serve, and not dominate, the peoples of the world," Mr Annan said. "He believed strongly that henceforth security must be collective and indivisible. That was why, for instance ... he insisted, when faced with aggression by North Korea against the south in 1950, on bringing the issue to the United Nations."Read on..... Of course as Georgie did with his daddy or any other person of authority with a touch of intelligence, he will do nothing but show phony self-righteous indignation, pout like a baby, and do exactly the opposite. H/T to Tom Paine.com for bringing this to our attention. As they say there, Not to weigh in on one side of the impeachment argument, but Neil Young's "Let's Impeach The President" video does make a pretty good case. |
Contrary to the usual talking heads from the MSM spewing their up-beat and ass-kissing reviews of the Iran Study Group report, it was quite refreshing to once again see the man I wish would be the next Presidential nominee, Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wisc) sum up the report in one sentence.“The fact is, this commission was composed apparently entirely of people who did not have the judgment to oppose this Iraq war in the first place....” In addition, there is significant underreporting of the violence in Iraq. The standard for recording attacks acts as a filter to keep events out of reports and databases. A murder of an Iraqi is not necessarily counted as an attack. If we cannot determine the source of a sectarian attack, that assault does not make it into the database. A roadside bomb or a rocket or mortar attack that doesn’t hurt U.S. personnel doesn’t count. For example, on one day in July 2006 there were 93 attacks or significant acts of violence reported. Yet a careful review of the reports for that single day brought to light 1,100 acts of violence. Good policy is difficult to make when information is systematically collected in a way that minimizes its discrepancy with policy goals. Read on.....This goes right along with King George's policy of NEVER talking with enemies. Unfortunately this lame brained policy of isolationism toward Iran and Syria has increased the violence level and the death toll three-fold because nothing has or will be done, unless and until an open dialogue is begun by a REAL diplomat and by that I mean NOT Condilizalot. Mark my words, history will judge this imposter President and his administration as the most failed presidency in the history of the United States. |
At the very least, a Vice-Presidential spot on a ticket with Obama or Edwards for '08 should be offered to Russ Feingold. Flipping through the news channels on Wednesday, one would have seen an endless parade of pundits and politicians praising the Iraq Study Group’s report. One exception was a man who was critical of the war before it was in style, Sen. Russ Feingold, who told Countdown’s Keith Olbermann: “The fact is this commission was composed apparently entirely of people who did not have the judgment to oppose this Iraq war in the first place...” (H/T Truth Dig, and of course you can view the video at C&L. |
When CNN hired Glenn Beck for its' "Headline News" program, we all knew what to expect. He is well known as an ultra right-wing extremist. Now we can add sick and twisted rascist to his repertoire.
We were recently given a look at his attitude toward people of the Muslim faith when he had the audacity to ask newly elected Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) who practices this faith, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies." If anyone is an enemy of the United States, it is this two-bit fascist thug. On his August 10th radio show, distributed by Clear Channel's Premiere Radio Networks, Beck told listeners, "The world is on the brink of World War III," then issued this warning:All you Muslims who have sat on your frickin' hands the whole time and have not been marching in the streets and have not been saying, 'Hey, you know what? There are good Muslims and bad Muslims. We need to be the first ones in the recruitment office lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head.' I'm telling you, with God as my witness... human beings are not strong enough, unfortunately, to restrain themselves from putting up razor wire and putting you on one side of it. When things—when people become hungry, when people see that their way of life is on the edge of being over, they will put razor wire up and just based on the way you look or just based on your religion, they will round you up. Is that wrong? Oh my gosh, it is Nazi, World War II wrong, but society has proved it time and time again: It will happen. This is the person CNN turned to to boost ratings. Well apparently he did that quite well since CNN reports ratings in his 7 p.m. time period 60 percent among all viewers, and 84 percent among viewers aged 25 to 54. But I have to ask CNN President Kenneth Jautz, "have you no sense of decency or shame"? This only proves the vulgarity of the people who enjoy watching the trials and pitfalls in the lives of others on these so-called "reality shows". They seem to think since their life isn't that bad they are somehow better than others. FAIR (Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting) goes on to further quote some of Beck's sickening and poisonous statements. On September 5th, Beck took the same message to his CNN Headline News audience, declaring, "In 10 years, Muslims and Arabs will be looking through a razor wire fence at the West." ***** Since 9/11, Americans have gotten so fed up with the "yes, but" Muslims. The "yes, but" Muslims are the ones who show up on talkshows and in the media and say, "Yes, terrorism is bad, but"—and then they go through a list of reasons on why we should try and sympathize with people who fly planes into buildings.... If, God forbid, there's another attack, we won't have anymore patience for the "yes, buts." The Muslim community better find a spokesman who isn't a "yes, but" Muslim. They shouldn't even understand the word "but," because if they don't, when things heat up, the profiling will only get worse, and the razor wire will be coming.Nice eh? I urge you to please contact CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein and urge him to condemn Glenn Beck's chilling threats against Muslims. CONTACT: CNN/U.S. President Jonathan Klein Phone: 404-827-1500 Email: here Make your voice heard. The Bush administration and its' enablers in the MSM have spread enough hate across the globe that it will take at least two generations to heal. If we learned nothing else from the past, we should have learned this...take people seriously when they start threatening people with concentration camps—rather than looking the other way because of their ratings "success." I hope others are as fed up and furious with the talking heads on today's Sunday shows.
On Fox News we were subjected to Wall Street Journal editor Paul Gigot (one of the biggest cheerleaders for invading Iraq) saying I think the president’s commitment of resolve this week in saying — wrapping his arms around Maliki and saying we’re going to be there with you is very important, because that’s the only way that we can, I think, get him to make the very difficult decisions that he has to make, whether it be taking on the insurgency or disarming the Shiite militias. This IMO is just another way of saying "stay the course". From Think Progress, we are told what that bastion of virtue Joe LIEberman had to say on CBS's "Face The Nation" about the oh so convenient release of the Rumsfeld memo I must say, Bob, that the one thing he doesn’t raise as a possibility is to increase the number of our troops there even though there’s very broad criticism of Rumsfeld for having had too few American troops in Iraq after Saddam Hussein was overthrown. That may well be a critical part of the problems that we’ve been having lately. Incidentally, finally he makes a few suggestions such as embedding more Americans in Iraqi security forces which most people now think is a good idea and having more Americans on the border with Iran and Syria to stop the terrorists from coming in. You know, our military has been asking for that for years. They didn’t get it. Both of those require more personnel on the ground in Iraq.Myself, I would tell all these talking heads who are so ready to send everyone else's son, daughter, father, or mother to fight and risk dying for what is a civil war, to watch this. |
