Flanigan Withdraws From Dep. Atty. General Nomination
I guess the heat got to be too much for Timothy E. Flanigan and/or King Georges' administration. The Associated Press is reporting in a "breaking news" alert:Timothy E. Flanigan has withdrawn as a nominee to be deputy attorney general amid a delay in his confirmation because of his dealings with indicted Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, The Associated Press has learned.Sen. Patrick Leahy, the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee pointed out that the more question they ask, even more questions arise, and requested another hearing on the nomination. When is King George going to learn that anybody appointed to anything will be immediately soured if there is any reference to a relationship with Jack Abramoff? Flanigan was also involved in the crafting of the legislation allowing what has become known as the torture legislation. My guess is they couldn't take the heat even though the official reason for the withdrawal was because of "uncertainty concerning the timing of my confirmation". As for this story, it is typical that this would be dumped to the press on a Friday night where it is sure to missed by the majority of the American people. The thing is, most progressive bloggers are wise to this tactic by the Bush administration and now we expect it so we look for it. MORE..... |
