When In Political Trouble Push The Fear Button
Does George really think this is going to work yet again? Today's speech, which was billed by the WH as a major speech regarding the war on terror, was nothing more than an outright effort to bolster Americans' confidence in his leadership after a pounding in September over the handling of Hurricane Katrina, and attempt to garner support for his failed Iraq policy (or lack thereof).
As Bill Clinton said in an interview for Ladies Home Journal's November issue, Iraq "looks like a quagmire" and that while he thinks it is important for America to stay in Iraq, "the odds are not great of our prevailing there."
Democrats in the Senate were also not too pleased with His Highness' speach. Said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, "The president continued to falsely assert there is a link between the war in Iraq and the tragedy of September 11th, a link that did not and does not exist".
One excerpt from his speech:In truth, they have endless ambitions of imperial domination and they wish to make everyone powerless except themselves…They seek to end dissent in every form and to control every aspect of life and to rule the soul itself. This sounds more like a description of his own actions and policies at home and abroad. |
