Woodward Needs To Go
Either Bob Woodward is and outright lying idiot, or so ethically challenged he should be fired immediately from WaPo.
We have long known him to be a water carrier for the Bush regime (too many private meetings with little Georgie IMO), but now we find out he was a major player in the Plame leak case as well. This, as he dismissed Fitzgerald and his investigation as nothing more than "inside the beltway gossip". Telling Chris Matthews on Hardball discussing the jailing of Judy Miller:MATTHEWS: Because she won`t tell her who her source is in the leak case. WOODWARD: Yes. MATTHEWS: In the leak case involving Joe Wilson and that trip to Niger. WOODWARD: And that case, when I think it is all told, there is going to be nothing to it. And it is a shame. And the special prosecutor in that case, his behavior, in my view, has been disgraceful. And what comes to light now from the Washington Post? Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor Bob Woodward testified under oath Monday in the CIA leak case that a senior administration official told him about CIA operative Valerie Plame and her position at the agency nearly a month before her identity was disclosed. In a more than two-hour deposition, Woodward told Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald that the official casually told him in mid-June 2003 that Plame worked as a CIA analyst on weapons of mass destruction, and that he did not believe the information to be classified or sensitive, according to a statement Woodward released yesterday. It seems to me Woodward has a lot of explaining to do in light of his hypocritical statements about Fitzgerald, not bothering even to inform his own Managing Editor Leonard Downie until a month ago, and the fact he was involved in the entire matter from the very beginning. The only reason the story is out now is that a senior official of the administration told Fitzgerald of Woodward's involvement. The NY Times got rid of Judy Miller (at a heavy cost in both money and reputation) and The Washington Post should do the same with Woodward. If nothing else, this matter should put the entire media under close scrutiny. There is just to much buddy buddy stuff that is going on between them and the administration. It's no wonder how that bunch in the WH can be as corrupt as they are and there is no reporting on it. The media needs to get out of the Administration's bed and do their job. |
