Culture Of Unaccountability Infects Bush White House
Joe Wilson, husband of Valerie Plame, the former covert CIA operative whose name was leaked alledgedly by Karl Rove released this statement regarding the jailing of NYT reporter Judith Miller.
Via Daily KosThe sentencing of Judith Miller to jail for refusing to disclose her sources is the direct result of the culture of unaccountability that infects the Bush White House from top to bottom. President Bush's refusal to enforce his own call for full cooperation with the Special Counsel has brought us to this point. Clearly, the conspiracy to cover up the web of lies that underpinned the invasion of Iraq is more important to the White House than coming clean on a serious breach of national security. Thus has Ms Miller joined my wife, Valerie, and her twenty years of service to this nation as collateral damage in the smear campaign launched when I had the temerity to challenge the President on his assertion that Iraq had attempted to purchase uranium yellowcake from Africa. The real victims of this cover-up, which may have turned criminal, are the Congress, the Constitution and, most tragically, the Americans and Iraqis who have paid the ultimate price for Bush's folly. That is mild in my opinion, and for those who feel outraged at the jailing of Miller think again. This witch got exactly what she deserved. She is not protecting a source, she is protecting her buddies in the Bush administration. Let's not forget, this was the mouthpiece for Bush's justification for attacking Iraq. She was one of the staunchest supporters and purveyors of his lies. As far as I am concerned this Queen of Iraq is drenched in the blood of thousands deaths in Iraq. She is the one who used Bush's sources to add credence to her articles that appeared in the New York Times and were spread around the world as gospel and used to stir up the anti-Iraq fervor and support for the invasion of Iraq. She gets no sympathy from me. In my opinion she is right where she belongs. She is not protecting a source, she is protecting a criminal and a corrupt administration that endangered not only Valerie Plame's life but all of her contacts while in the CIA and that makes her just as guilty as the person who leaked Ms. Plames' name to the public. It's too bad the judge didn't send her to "gitmo" so she could experience first hand Bush's definition of "interrogation". In fact, I would much rather see her in jail not for withholding a so-called source, but for criminally falsifying the public record and for aiding in the occupation of Iraq. |
