Judge Upholds Christine Gregoire's Election As Washington St. Governor

Let the Washington States' Republicans moaning and groaning and gnashing of teeth begin!! AP is reporting: A judge Monday upheld Democrat Christine Gregoire's victory in the closest race for governor in U.S. history, rejecting Republican claims that last fall's election was stolen through errors and fraud. Chelan County Superior Court Judge John Bridges found that even though there were 1,678 illegally cast ballots out of a total of 2.9 million cast, Republicans failed to prove that GOP candidate Dino Rossi would have won if those votes had been disregarded. Bridges ruled that: "Unless an election is clearly invalid, when the people have spoken their verdict should not be disturbed by the courts [Nullifying the election, he said, would be] the ultimate act of judicial egotism and judicial activism." I find it interesting that when the tables were turned in the 2000 Presidential election, and in the 2005 Presidential election in the state of Ohio, Democrats were told to just move on the election is over and ridiculed when it was even suggested that it should have been brought to court. What sheer hypocrisy that for the last 6 months the mantra out of the Republican party regarding the Ohio election was nothing but ridicule over court challenges while all the while they were appearing in court day after day challenging an election in Washington they were not satisfied with. Just another case of "do as I say not as I do" from this bunch of hypocrites. In his ruling, the judge said the GOP failed to make the case for any deliberate, widespread fraud. He rejected the GOP's argument that an analytical technique called "proportional deduction" showed that most of the illegal votes cast in the election went to Gregoire. He also held that even using Republicans' proposed analytical technique, Gregoire still won. Although at this time it is unclear whether the decision will be appealed, I would venture to guess this whiney bunch will push this as far as they can go. However, it is unlikely that the high court would displace a sitting Governor. So congratulations to Governor Gregiore and go screw yourselves you sleazeball Republicans. MORE....
