GOP In Full CYA Mode

Here we go again. Yet another example of illegal conduct by a "family values" Republican and the way their leadership in Congress cover up that conduct. The latest of course is the disgusting emails and instant messages from Rep. Mark Foley (R-FLA) to underage Congressional Pages. It is NOT important in this case if the Page was male (which it was) or female. What IS important, is the fact this is the conduct of a sexual predator - it is as simple and horrifying as that. Despite the media saying it was pretty well known that Foley was homosexual, his sexual orientation is not the issue - unless you want to connect it to the legalization of gay right's somehow, which in my mind is a non-starter and patently ridiculous. I am begining to wonder however if this is the Goverment Of Perverts. This so-called "family values" bunch absolutey sicken me. Instead of making sure the rest of the teenage pages were protected from a scumbag sexual predator and going to the Capitol Police or the FBI, they instead went to the National Republican Campaign Committee and tried there level best to keep it quiet. They didn't even have the decency to inform the lone Democrat on the the Missing and Exploited Children Caucus, Rep. Dale Kildee (D-MI). A Caucus which was co-chaired by Rep. Foley. Now the oft-repeated meme is being pushed by the rest of the Republican hypocrites that the Democrats are making it a political issue. Sorry guys, that dog don't hunt. It was the Republican leadership that didn't inform the authorities, and when Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for an investigation it was the Republican members of Conress who loudly booed her on the House floor. It was the Republican members who went to the RNCC instead of authorities. It was the Republican leadership who hid it and enabled it for more than a year. Boehner (R-Ohio) House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-OH) Majority House Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) Congressman Rodney Alexander's (R-LA) Chief of Staff Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) Chairman of the Page Board I have to remind people that this is the same "family values" crowd who called for the impeachment of President Clinton over sexual conduct between two CONSENTING ADULTS. Now they are constantly bringing up any and all previous sex scandals that involved a Democrat to somehow justify Foley's actions instead of investigating the sexual conduct of a 52 year old man with at least one UNDERAGE male page and possibly more. This is a glaring example of the hypocrisy that controls the GOP. One other point I would like to make. Let's not call for the Ethics Committee to investigate as the Republicans are suggesting. We know all too well how they operate. Just look at how that committee handled all the other illegal activity of their fellow members from the Republican side of the isle.
