W.H. Seeks Compromise On Use Of Torture
King George constantly trumpets the meme "We Don't Torture", but if that is the case, why in the world do they feel it is necessary to try to compromise on an amendment that passed 90-7 to ban "cruel, inhumane and degrading" treatment of detainees? WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House is seeking a compromise with a leading Senate Republican over its efforts to exempt the CIA from a proposed ban on torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners, President George W. Bush's national security adviser said on Sunday. "We are working hard in good faith on both sides to come up with an approach that can be supported by the president and the Congress, to both find a way to be aggressive in the war on terror and still comply with U.S. law," national security adviser Stephen Hadley said on "Fox News Sunday."Just the fact that the Administration wants to compromise on the use of torture speaks volumes about their practices, and should outrage every American. It is quite simple, if they don't condone torture as King George says, then The Darth Vader of the Administration Dick Cheney would not even be pushing for an exemption for the CIA let alone a compromise. post a commentShould ourage---IT DOES OUTRAGE MANY OF US... And people like me we write and call our reps, and write the media..but we are pretty powerless...I don't know what else to do at this point- it is insane and scary....The world must hate us and think we are all religous redneck thugs....
