    Katrina May Have Killed Thousands

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is quoted today by the Associated Press that
"We know there is a significant number of dead bodies in the water, minimum, hundreds. Most likely, thousands."
If this is an accurate account, would make the storm the nation's deadliest natural disaster since at least the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Army engineers are struggling to plug breached levees with giant sandbags and concrete barriers that failed to hold the onrushing water. The AP is also reporting there are plans to evacuate the entire city because it will not even be functional as a city for at least two or three months. MORE....

    While The King Fiddles ...........

Today I was going to post a notice to my readers that due to illness I would not be updating this blog until probably after September 1st. That is UNTIL I realized what exactly the entire destruction, devastation and death Katrina has caused......and King George's response to it. Now I can't even describe how damn angry I am. While hundreds of people drowned yesterday, where was the President?..... Golfing. Why does the city of New Orleans, even though it avoided a direct hit, now look like a city that will never return much like Atlantis? Ask King George what he did with the money the Army Corps of Engineers requested for hurricane and flood control because they feared this very thing happening.
It appears that the money has been moved in the president’s budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and I suppose that’s the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the levees can’t be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make the case that this is a security issue for us. -- Walter Maestri, emergency management chief for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana; New Orleans Times-Picayune, June 8, 2004.
His Highness felt the money would be better spent giving his oil buddies tax shelters, and his high falutin' money grubbing friends on snob street tax cuts, not to mention shoving good money after bad in a selected war he KNEW was NOT NECESSARY!!! Where are the National Guard troops from Louisiana and Mississippi that should be doing the job they signed up to do? IN IRAQ being maimed and killed fighting in an unnecessary war and conducting an illegal occupation under orders from this half-wit that occupies the White House. That's not bad enough, but even the equipment that would be normally used to help these people is over in Iraq. The high-water vehicles and even wireless radios normally used are in Iraq for god's sake!!!! God forbid he should show some concern for the victims of probably the worst major natural disaster to hit the United States in history. NO instead he goes golfing yesterday, and spends all of 1 minute and 20 seconds today even mentioning the disaster instead choosing to try and sell his war. with a battleship in the backround in sunny San Diego, California. Then his aides tell us he is cutting his (FIVE WEEK) vacation short to handle the situation. That's strange, since just a couple days ago they were insisting he wasn't on vacation at all but was in Crawford only because remodelling was being done to the West Wing of the WH. And where is he going when he ends his vaction tomorrow? Back to Washington. God help him if he happened to think of maybe at least attempting to show some concern for the disaster victims by at minimum doing a fly-over of the stricken area. Even if it were a false concern (which it most certainly would be) at least he would look as if he cared, and in the process give these people some sense of hope and feeling that their so-called leader cares about them. The Governer of Louisiana Kathleen Blanco stated today that everyone still in the city, now huddled in the Superdome and other rescue centers, needs to be evacuated. FEMA is even considering putting people on cruise ships, in tent cities, mobile home parks, and so-called floating dormitories — boats the agency uses to house its own employees because things are so bad in New Orleans. How can he even live with himself and call himself a Christian. My God man the majority of the people taking shelter in the Superdome are there because they are the poorest of the poor, and couldn't aford the gas money to fill their cars to get out if they even had a car. Does George realize that New Orleans is made up of mostly the poorest of the poor? Or does he think everything is fun and games in that city. A year round festival called Mardi Gras. In the meantime, this miserable bastard who cares about nothing but himself and his fucking millionaire oil buddies, plays golf and goes to the west coast AWAY from any sight of the damage, despair and death to attempt once again to force feed his damn war on a public that is more and more letting him know they are fed up with his crap and his unnecessary war. When Congress returns after Labor Day, they should put its' collective foot down and DEMAND more accountability from this moron and tell him in no uncertain terms IT IS TIME HE START ACTING LIKE A PRESIDENT - get of his ass and impose a freeze on oil and gas prices. Put a "Marshall Plan" of sorts into effect and help these people out. DEMAND he formulate an exit strategy and bring the National Guard Troops he is using as a permanent Armed Forces home to their respective states and do the job they were trained to do. Turn over the money needed to the Corps of Engineers to upgrade these levies that he has let deteriorate to the point where the pumps don't function. And if those in Congress don't demand these things, Republican and Democrat alike, the whole useless bunch should be turfed. As for King George and the rest of the shit-heads in his administration, the whole damn lot of them should be impeached. This man has got to be the worst occupant of the White House in the history of the country.

Get Back On Your Meds Georgie

Is Cindy getting to King George? Well if an article titled Bush's Obscene Tirades Rattle White House Aides in Capital Hill Blue is any indication and believed, then I would say the answer to that question is an resounding YES. According to the author DOUG THOMPSON, while President George W. Bush travels around the country in a last-ditch effort to sell his Iraq war, White House aides scramble frantically behind the scenes to hide the dark mood of an increasingly angry leader who unleashes obscenity-filled outbursts at anyone who dares disagree with him. As for his feelings about everyone's favorite peace-mom Cindy Sheehan, and the possibility of meeting with her, dear leader apparently went bat-shit crazy and practically ripped all of his aides a new exit area on their respective backsides saying
I’m not meeting again with that goddamned bitch,” Bush screamed at aides who suggested he meet again with Cindy Sheehan, the war-protesting mother whose son died in Iraq. “She can go to hell as far as I’m concerned!”
In fact, it seems anyone who dares to disagree with His Royal Highness over the illegal war and occupation of Iraq causes him to go into an bombastic tirade, immediately calling them “motherfucking traitors.” Such class from such a "blue blood" family known as Bush. Then again that is not so surprising when you think back to how his mama once described then First Lady Hillary Clinton as "that rhymes with witch". Oh Babs your such a lady...NOT. One of the most humorous incidents I found in the article was about his recent and much bally-hooed appearance at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Utah. To hear the mainstream media tell it, he was greeted with open arms....BUT....what wasn't revealed in the MSM was that some of the members wore "Bullshit Protectors" (as you can see in the picture at left), and apparently poor Georgie wasn't at all pleased. He responded by saying
“tell those VFW assholes that I’ll never speak to them again if they can’t keep their members under control.”
White House insiders say Bush is growing increasingly bitter over mounting opposition to his war in Iraq. Polls show a vast majority of Americans now believe the war was a mistake and most doubt the President’s honesty.
“Who gives a flying fuck what the polls say,” he screamed at a recent strategy meeting. “I’m the President and I’ll do whatever I goddamned please. They don’t know shit.”
It was last year that Capital Hill Blue, said they had learned the White House physician prescribed anti-depressant drugs for the President to control what aides called “violent mood swings.” Something tells me that Laura better start sneaking a tablet or two into his hot milk before bed time. Unless of course he is drinking something other than warm milk. Speaking of the chimps latest behavior, a prominent Washington psychiatrist, Dr. Justin Frank, author of “Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President,” is all too typical of an alcohol-abusing bully who is ruled by fear. Dr. Frank explains Bush’s behavior as all-to-typical of an alcoholic who is still in denial:
“The pattern of blame and denial, which recovering alcoholics work so hard to break, seems to be ingrained in the alcoholic personality; it's rarely limited to his or her drinking,” he says. “The habit of placing blame and denying responsibility is so prevalent in George W. Bush's personal history that it is apparently triggered by even the mildest threat.”
Dr Frank also raises the questions that he says "the press seems particularly determined to ignore [but] have hung silently in the air since before Bush took office,”
“Is he still drinking? And if not, is he impaired by all the years he did spend drinking? Both questions need to be addressed in any serious assessment of his psychological state.”
Whatever the reason, it only confirms what all of us have known for a long time. This empty-headed loon has absolutely no business being the President of the United States, let alone the so-called leader of the free world with his finger on the button that could bring the start of nuclear war..... that is downright frightening. Since he claims to speak personally with God, I would certainly hope he gargles well and cleans out his trashy mouth first. MORE....

Cindy Sheehan Song #1 On Country Music Chart

A song saluting Cindy Sheehan and her son Casey is number one on the online country music charts. The song is title "God Bless You Cindy Sheehan", and is sung by Les Visible and can be heard at Soundclick.com. Give it a listen, and pass the link around. The song can also be heard from The Band Page
Cindy Sheehan is a true power of honest hope and righteous indignation. God willing she is the standard bearer for an army of ordinary humanity that will sweep the fascists from their vicious grip on every aspect of our lives.
If you're interested, Les Visible also has a very interesting blog called Smoking Mirrors

    Right-Wingnut Culture Of Murder

On the August 22 broadcast of his 700 PTL club we had Pat Robertson calling for the covert assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. (Hey Pat just a little secret between you and me ok? Ya gotta keep it quiet if you want it to be covert you ass hole!!)
You know, I don't know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.
So much for being "Christian". But the sad thing is he is not alone in this sick murderous way of thinking to solve the perceived problems of the world which in their twisted minds means anyone who doesn't agree with them or dares to question His Highness King George. Thanks to Media Matters, here are a few others who seem to think the solving of a problem means eliminating the individual or individuals off the face of the earth.
O'Reilly said LA Times' Kinsley wouldn't "get it" until terrorists "cut off his head" Fox News host Bill O'Reilly said that the Los Angeles Times editorial board wouldn't understand his objection to legal representation for detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, until terrorists kill editorial page editor Michael Kinsley. It is just -- you just sit there, you go, "They'll never get it until they grab Michael Kinsley out of his little house and they cut his head off." And maybe when the blade sinks in, he'll go, "Perhaps O'Reilly was right."
And then there are these words of wisdom from Glen Beck a host from Clear Channel Radio
Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck said he was "thinking about killing [filmmaker] Michael Moore" and pondered whether "I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it." From the May 17 broadcast of The Glenn Beck Program: BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.
And then of course there is the Queen of Mean Herself, Mr. Mann Coulter debating the merits of assinationversusl impeachment for Bill Clinton.
Syndicated columnist Ann Coulter argued that the national debate during the Monica Lewinsky controversy should not have focused on whether President Bill Clinton "did it," but rather "whether to impeach or assassinate" him. The quote appeared in Coulter's book High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton (Regnery, 1998): In this recurring nightmare of a presidency, we have a national debate about whether he "did it," even though all sentient people know he did. Otherwise there would be debates only about whether to impeach or assassinate.
Add these statements in with the sentiments by the likes of Fred Phelps, who wants to drive all gays from the face of the earth an into the depths of hell and Jerry Falwell saying the 9/11 attack was because of homosexuality. While other's claimed the Tsunami that killed thousands in Southeast Asia was because that island was a homosexual tourist attraction and the entire region was being punished because of its' belief in Islam. Is there anyone other than themselves and their clone-like sheeple that follow them these people don't want banished to the depths of hell? And this is the Christian base King George and the rest of the Bush Crime Family crawl around in the gutter with.

    Bush's Nobel Cause

So this is the "noble cause" the troops are dying for and King George is occupying a country for. A theocratic country that will be modeled after that great beacon of democracy itself...IRAN. Congratulations George you did one hell of a job of promoting democracy and freedom there!! Via WaPo,a draft constitution has been submitted the Iraqi Parliament. Here are some of the highlites of that draft:
Shiites and Kurds were sending a draft constitution to parliament on Monday that would fundamentally change Iraq, transforming the country into a loose federation, with a weak central administration governed by Islamic law, negotiators said. The draft, slated for action by a Monday deadline, would be a sweeping rejection of the demands of Iraq's disaffected Sunni minority, which has called the proposed federal system the start of the breakup of Iraq. Shiites and Kurds indicated they were in no mood to compromise
    [snip]
The draft, slated for action by a Monday deadline, would be a sweeping rejection of the demands of Iraq's disaffected Sunni minority, which has called the proposed federal system the start of the breakup of Iraq. Shiites and Kurds indicated they were in no mood to compromise.
    [snip]
Key provisions of the draft would formalize an already autonomous Kurdish state in the north, under a federal system. The rest of the country also would be allowed to form federal systems -- opening the way for the demand by the dominant Shiite Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq to create a southern Shiite sub-state out of up to half of Iraq's 18 regions. Sunnis and others say such a state would be under heavy influence from neighboring, Shiite-ruled Iran. The draft also stipulates that Iraq is an Islamic state and that no law can contradict the principles of Islam, Shiite and Kurdish negotiators said. Opponents have charged that last provision would subject Iraqis to religious edicts by individual clerics.
Yep, King George at his best. Now we have two versions of Iran to be concerned about. I sure hope George doesn't plan on having any control over that oil or permanent military bases there. And womens' rights? HA! FAT CHANCE!! If this is even close to how the final constitution will look like, I have a news flash for ya Georgie............YOU LOST THE WAR........and worse......ALL THOSE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN DIED FOR NOTHING!!!!! Some noble cause that all turned out to be. Can you say Vietnam? UPDATED....Via Reuters
"The establishment of a democratic constitution will be a landmark event in the history of Iraq, in the history of the Middle East," Bush said in a speech to U.S. veterans. He said all of Iraq's main ethnic and religious groups are working together on it and "made a courageous choice to join the political process and together they will produce a constitution that reflects the values and traditions of the Iraqi people."
Now we have King George calling a country with its' people living under Islamic Shia law, a country that all but ignores the minority Sunni population, a democracy. What a total sham. This traitor to all that is American should be brought before the international court on war crimes charges. And to think the right-wing media mouthpieces denegrde Cindy Sheehan. You mean to tell me he was killed for THIS?? What a friggin outrage. And George is too damn stupid to even see what is happening right before his eyes, while at the same time Afghanistan is falling to the Taliban once again. Why? Because King George left it high and dry to head for the oil in Iraq.

    George's War Tour Circa 2005

Well King George started the "Support The War" Tour Circa 2005 today in Salt Lake City. Of course the airport was closed to the public, and the speach at the Salt Palace Convention Center, where he was the keynote speaker for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) convention of course was vetted as usual to make sure only true supporters of the administration were present. Meanwhile, in downtown Salt Lake City's Pioneer Park, anti-war protesters gathered to speak and demonstrate against the continuing fighting in Iraq. The Salt Lake newspapers estimated the crowd to be around 1000 strong. However people who were there claimed the crowd to be closer to 4000. Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson lead the protest and told the Salt Lake Tribune he hoped the demonstration would be "the biggest ... this state has ever seen," to protest Bush's appearance before a gathering of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his address to the crowd he said
"This administration has been disastrous to the country," he said. "If people could organize and speak out in an effective manner from the reddest state in the country, that would garner a lot of attention. "Patriotism demands that people speak out when we see our government officials acting in such anti-democratic and deceitful ways to the people of our country," he said.
More photos are available at Democratic Underground If you chose to visit this link and are on a 56k dial-up connection, be prepared for a long upload. If you are the patient type however I highly recommend it.

The Terrorist of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Doug Thompson put to words the anger and sadness we all feel because of the lies and manipulations of the illegitimate administration currently residing in the White House. Via ICH
My first reaction to George W. Bush’s all-too-obvious politicizing of the memories of September 11, 2001, in his latest lame attempt to justify his illegal and immoral war in Iraq, was anger. Than anger gave way to sadness. Sadness over a morality-challenged politician’s use of the deaths of 3,000 plus Americans for his own political gain. And even more sadness because there are still people out there stupid enough to fall for this kind of crap. Bush has pulled this stunt before. He keeps 9/11 in his bag of tricks as a last-ditch effort to save his corrupt political hide when things go bad. And, according to polls, things are bad. An increasing majority of Americans no longer buy his lies about Iraq and oppose the war along with growing numbers who finally realize the President of the United States is a liar who cannot be trusted.
How telling that this article should appear on the very day "dear leader" starts the rounds to try again to convince this country his decision to illegally invade and occupy a foreign country was correct. And of course he uses the false connection between 9/11 to Iraq, to which Thompson in this article rightly points out
So a desperate George W. Bush goes to the well once more, invoking the memories of September 11, 2001 to try and save his political skin.
Unfortunately there are those lemings out there who live and breath on every word the charlatan passing off as a President says.
Bush and his klavern of crooks, con-men and thieves have turned this nation into a monster that threatens world peace, an arrogant bomb-throwing bully who poses a far-greater danger than any Islam-spouting lunatic with a turban. We can hope that Americans recognize that more than one terrorist seeks to destroy America and that the most dangerous terrorist of all lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
I would urge you to read the entire article HERE.

    Hypocrites and Liars

    By Cindy Sheehan, via TruthOut.org.
Saturday 20 August 2005 11:30 AM The media are wrong. The people who have come out to Camp Casey to help coordinate the press and events with me are not putting words in my mouth, they are taking words out of my mouth. I have been known for sometime as a person who speaks the truth and speaks it strongly. I have always called a liar a liar and a hypocrite a hypocrite. Now I am urged to use softer language to appeal to a wider audience. Why do my friends at Camp Casey think they are there? Why did such a big movement occur from such a small action on August 6, 2005? I haven't had much time to analyze the Camp Casey phenomena. I just read that I gave 250 interviews in less than a week's time. I believe it. I would go to bed with a raw throat every night. I got pretty tired of answering some questions, like: "What do you want to say to the President?" and "Do you really think he will meet with you?" However, since my mom has been sick I have had a chance to step back and ponder the flood gates that I opened in Crawford, Tx.
Please read the entire story HERE.....

    A Controversial Mosaic

I came across this mosaic at on of my favorite blogs Syllogistic. I must tell you, the mosaic is made up of pictures of all the military war dead in this illegal war an occupation of Iraq. Some find the mosaic to be a good thing symbolically, because it shows that all these deaths are on Bush's head, and others like myself, feel it is showing a discourtesy to the men and women who gave their lives for an illegal war and occupation. I decided to post the picture here to find out what everyone here thinks. Please leave a comment, and vote in our poll. Please Note: Photo and Poll have been removed...causing problems in display.

    King Pauls' Fascist State

Canada will soon follow the way of the US and attempt to implement Prime Minister Paul Martin's idea of a police state. Martin's Justice Minister Irwin Cotler said yesterday he would introduce legislation this fall that would give police and national security agencies new powers to eavesdrop on cellphone calls and monitor the Internet activities of Canadians reports The Globe And Mail. Excuse me? This is a LIBERAL government? Sure it is but this Liberal government has the same type of millionaire. self-centered, egomaniac that the US has for a leader. Someone who takes the view that they were anointed by their wealth to become King of the fiefdom. Wasn't it just a few short weeks ago that Canada was being heralded as a bastion of progressiveness after legalizing the Gay Marriage amendment? Don't kid yourselves my friends, we have the same wingnuts in power here as the US, and soon, if this legislation is not blocked Canadians too will be living under the thumb of its' very own version of the Patriot Act. The bill would allow police to demand that Internet service providers hand over a wide range of information on the surfing habits of individuals, including on-line pseudonyms and whether someone possesses a mischief-making computer virus, according to a draft outline of the bill provided to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. The law would also force Internet service providers to retain records on the Internet use of its clients in such a way that it can be easily retrieved by police, doing away with the need in many cases to seize an individual's computer as part of an investigation. What the hell is it with these people in power? Leave us the hell alone, and do something constructive like fix the health care crisis, add more security to our mass transit systems. You're all so damn busy poking into the private lives of your citizens, you have no time for the things you were sent to Ottawa or Washington to take care of. Remember damn it you work for us!! I for one am sick and tired of your crap. The Justice Minister says
"We will put law-enforcement people on the same level playing field as criminals and terrorists in the matter of using technology and accessing technology," he said. "At the same time we will protect the civil libertarian concerns that are involved such as privacy and information surveillance".
What a load of bull shit that is. Even the governments' own Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart in her submission to the government earlier this year, stated that Ottawa and the police have not provided enough justification to warrant such a law.
"We remain skeptical about the need for these potentially intrusive and far-reaching measures," she wrote. Ms. Stoddart noted the law could give police access to global-positioning-system data from cellphones combined with electronic banking data that could allow the government to track an individual's every move.
This is nothing but a continuation of the fascist policy now in place in the United States drifting into the halls of power here in Canada. The only saving grace we MAY have in all this is the fact we have a Parliamentary system where King Paul I will be forced to answer to the opposition. Hopefully the additional fact that his highness has only a minority government he will think twice about this nonsense. If not the three opposition parties will have to step up to the plate and throw this bastard out on his ass where he belongs. I am beginning to believe the whole damn world is on a downward spiral to hell. Britain has it's REAL ID Act, the United States has its' Patriot Act, and now Canada wants what it calls its' "lawful access" legislation. This is nothing but fascism at its' best.

Terrorism & Fear The Bush/Cheney Trump Card

When you stop and REALLY think about the way this administration has conducted itself, especially its' climate of "total secrecy" it is excruciatingly frightening. Everything with this bunch is "classified" due to some so-called national security issue. Or for example when asked about the Rove story. They can't answer because it is an ongoing investigation......ya right!! I recently came across an opinion piece by Bernard Weiner that lays out in detail how the Bush/Cheney bunch are now and will in the future use terrorism and the fear that comes with it to totally take over the country. Here is one excerpt. This one from John Dean's book "WORSE THAN WATERGATE"
"The Bush-Cheney secrecy and style of governing carries with it potential consequences that are far worse than any political scandal. Their secret presidency is a dangerous threat to democracy in an age of terrorism. ...Bush and Cheney have picked up where Nixon left presidential power. They seek to free the presidency of all restraints. They want to implement their policies -- a radical wisdom they believe serves the greater good -- unencumbered by those who view the world differently." "When the moment comes and terrorists surprise America with an even greater spirit-shattering attack than 9/11, Bush and Cheney will simply push aside the Constitution they have sworn to uphold, inflame public passions with tough talk to rally support...and take this country to a place it has only been once. For eleven weeks during the outset of the Civil War, President Lincoln became what scholars have euphemistically called a constitutional dictator. But with terrorism it will likely not be so brief. Bush once quipped, 'If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator.' George Bush, however, is no Abraham Lincoln."
Kind of tells you why there has been no great push to capture Osama, and why they didn't finish the job in Afghanistan. Instead they invaded and occupied Iraq, justified by lies. And now, not only are the terrorists spread throughout the world, but by keeping Iraq de-stabilized and letting it become a breading ground for terrorists they are succeeding in keeping the fear alive here at home. I fear for the future. I fear that another terror attack is coming and Bush/Cheney know it and will allow it to happen in their quest to create the dictatorship they long for. Waaaa Waaaaa .......... Poor Rush

So poor Rush Limbaugh is offended. Well tough shit!!! Via Media Matters
Apparently stung by criticism and inundated with what he calls "far more hate mail than I usually get" over comments he made on August 15, nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh lashed out, apparently at Media Matters for America, describing us on his August 18 show as "little pimple-faced kids that are working at wannabe websites."
So David Brock whom Rush adored when he was a loyal Republican until he saw the hypocritical way their politics were heading, and the bloggers reporting his comments are wrong, pimple-faced kids on wannabe websites. Well here is the difference Mr. Oxycontin Man. We have proof of your statements in both recording and print. You make things up as you go along and do nothing more than read the RNC's and the administration's talking points for the day. You can hear his rant against Cindy, where he sure sounds like he is in a disconnected world of his own HERE, and also read the transcript An example of his disconnected thinking:
LIMBAUGH: I mean, Cindy Sheehan is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents. There's nothing about it that's real, including the mainstream media's glomming onto it. It's not real. It's nothing more than an attempt. It's the latest effort made by the coordinated left.
That is Rush from his August 15 broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show. And he expects us to believe him now when he claims he didn't say it? BTW in case you don't remember who Bill Burkett is, he is the person who gave CBS' 60 Minutes the supposedly false documents about King George's military service. So according to this paragon of honesty Cindy Sheehans' son Casey did not die in Iraq. And he now has the nerve to complain when he is called out on it? Well here is another "pimply faced kid" who calls the "oxycontin kid" out on his smearing ways.
August 17, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann named nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh "today's worst person in the world" for saying on his August 15 radio show that "Cindy Sheehan is just Bill Burkett. Her story is nothing more than forged documents. There's nothing about it that's real." Commenting on Limbaugh's remarks -- which Media Matters noted on August 16 -- Olbermann said, "I guess she made up that dead-son-in-Iraq business! He [Limbaugh] also referred to her supporters as 'dope-smoking FM types.' I guess the painkillers wipe out your memory along with your ethics. Rush Limbaugh, today's worst person in the world!"
So there you have it Rush. Read it and weep. You're own worst enemy is YOU. So STFU and go take another pill and continue habitating your own little make-believe world where George is king and everything is lollypops and roses, with a pill on every plate.

    Letters To Laura

Yesterday was "Mom's Day" at Camp Casey, and to honour that, the mothers present at Camp Casey who have either lost a loved one or has a loved one currently doing duty now in Iraq decided to appeal to the "First Mother", Laura Bush and wrote letters to her asking her to convince George to meet with Cindy. In a march of solidarity, the mothers made the long treck down the road towards King George's castle to deliver the letters to Laura. Of course they were not allowed to do so and were stopped by the Sherriff about 1.7 miles away from the ranch. TruthOut.org reports that Medea Benjiman and a military mom handed over the letters to Bill Burke from the Office of the Secretary of the President. Perhaps Laura can get through to His Highness George I, but somehow I doubt it. I have always felt she is just as phoney as the rest of the Bush clan, and down deep inside just as big a bitch as her mother-in-law. If you don't think Babs was a bitch, take a look at this quote from Good Morning American on March 18, 2003
But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that? And watch him suffer."
Isn't that just so sweet? Some charmer that hag is. It looks to me like this is the attitude needed to be born or marry into the Bush crime family. MORE... I would love however, to be proven wrong by Laura. Maybe she does have a sense of integrity and dignity buried somewhere behind that plastic image and she herself will come out to Camp Casey.

    Camp Casey Remains Undaunted

Despite suffering yet another devastation in her life, Cindy has vowed to fight on. As I am sure you have all heard by now, and as I posted in an update last evening, Cindy Sheehans' mom suffered a stroke yesterday and has been hospitalized. Below is a press release in its' entirety from Camp Casey:
CINDY SHEEHAN LEAVES, OTHERS STAY ON TO KEEP PRESSURE ON BUSH FOR MEETING Mother’s Illness Won’t Change the Agenda at Camp Casey; Prayer Vigil Tomorrow Will Take Place at 12 Noon CDTFriday Statement by Cindy Sheehan: This afternoon around 4 p.m. Crawford time my sister DeeDee received a call that our mother has had a stroke and is in the emergency room at a hospital in Los Angeles. As you can imagine, this is a devastating blow for my sister, my brother, my children and me. I’m leaving Crawford temporarily to go be with my mother. While I am gone, the other mothers of fallen soldiers in Iraq, along with the Iraq war veterans and other soldiers will remain at Camp Casey and keep up the pressure on the President to meet with us and answer questions about the war. Statement by Patricia Vogel of Military Families Speak Out (Patricia Vogel’s son, Aaron, has served in Iraq and may be re-deployed) We needed Cindy to start this movement and now Cindy needs us to keep it going. We are staying in Crawford until we get answers, or until the President completes his five-week vacation. Dozens of religious leaders, military mothers, and supporters of Cindy Sheehan’s message will gather at Camp Casey to observe a moment of silence Friday at 12:00pm CT. Religious leaders will be on hand to lead the observance and offer prayer and a moment of silence for the military serving around the world, those who have given their lives in combat, and their loved ones. They will also echo Cindy Sheehan’s calls, asking the President to meet with military families who seek his ear, and to withdraw our troops from Iraq. Cindy Sheehan, Gold Star Families for Peace, and the religious leaders, have invited President Bush to attend the prayer meeting.
I urge you all to pray for Cindy's mom to have the strength to overcome this and return to good health. A lingering question in the back of my mind (well I have many), but let's deal with just this one. King George wasn't man enough and was totally classless in his treatment of Cindy to date. Do you think he will have enough class and lose his ego long enough to contact Cindy and wish her mom well? He says he is a Christian, wouldn't that be the "Cristian" thing to do? Or will he let one of his flacks write and release a cool and distant statement. I doubt he is man enough to do either. George Bush = Classless Whimp

Come On Networks - Wake Up!!!!

As I told you all earlier I was away for the last few days but as I return and look around the net and listen to some of the talking heads that substitutes for our news media, I see the same crap is still going on. Fox is still degrading Cindy with the help of the usual suspects of O'Reilly, Drudge, Man Coulter and of course the mouth that roared Rush Limbaugh. That's fine, it is nasty but we expect no less from that bunch. What is really pissing me off is the network news talking heads. Every damn one of them say the same thing. Cindy is a puppet of the left, Cindy is a tool of the anti-war movement. Are these people reading the same script? You know Cindy has been accused of having "handlers" well I am glad she does have someone coaching her on how to respond and handle these misfits. I can tell you one thing though, I doubt very damn much they are telling her what to say. This woman strikes me as having a mind of her own, and NO ONE will tell her what to say and do.She is acting through a Mothers' love, and that is something no handler can teach In fact, spontaneous rallies of support were seen in many cities across America last night. Cindy didn't call for those. They happened because the people are fed up with the lying and cheating that has gone on by this Administration in their quest for oil and staging bases in Iraq. This is a group of supporters who have decided for themselves to come to Crawford to support her in her cause. There was no planning of an anti-war protest here, it was nothing more than a rallying point where the anti-war people joined the cause. If they didn't know what the cause was, Cindy told them in no uncertain terms. This is about Casey, this is about a mother losing her son. This is about ALL mothers who have lost sons. The reason these rallies are springing up, and the reason why so many are choosing to join Cindy in Crawford is because the public is finally waking up to the fact that this Administration cannot answer that one simple question that Cindy wants to ask King George. What was the "noble cause" that Casey and every other lost family member died for. The answer received is deafening silence. If we had any type of legitimate news media they would be asking the same damn question instead of trying to dimish this wonderful womans' work by linking it to handlers or the anti-war coalition in every news story about her. UPDATE Cindy's mother had a stroke today and she has left Camp Casey.
Cindy Sheehan told reporters she had just received the phone call and was leaving immediately to be with her 74-year-old mother at a Los Angeles hospital. "I'll be back as soon as possible if it's possible," she said. After hugging some of her supporters, Sheehan and her sister, Dede Miller, got in a van and left for the Waco airport about 20 miles away.
I don't know how much more this poor woman can take. Unfortunately, I fear it won't be long until the smear machine that is the conservative right-wing will no doubt use this as yet another excuse to belittle her or say it is HER fault this happened to her mother. IMO, they should look in the mirror and ask themselves if just maybe some of the horrible things they have been saying about her daughter may be the cause. More on Cindy's mom is available HERE....

    An Apology

Hi gentle readers, I owe you an apology. As you can see, I have not been keeping this blog up to date lately. Well I was a bit under the weather over the last weekend, and then when the week started, I had three doctor appointments in two days. Well I am the type of person that when I know I must be up and about by a certain time to get to an appointment, that keeps me awake pretty much the entire night so I then become extremely sleep deprived. Well now that the mysterious malady has gone, and I have fulfilled my obligations to three different doctors, I had a good night's sleep and I'm back in the saddle again. So shortly I will begin posting again (for better or worse - you decide). In the meantime, kindly accept my apologies for leaving you in the lurch.

    Leadership Found

Oh how I love the writing of Arianna Huffington. Especially today in this post at The Huffington Post where she successfully shows us in words what Cindy Sheehan has shown us by her love of her son and the honoring of his memory with her actions at Camp Casey.
During my many years as a writer, I’ve interviewed hundreds of people. But talking with Cindy Sheehan this morning was unlike any conversation I’ve ever had.
    [SNIP]
She spoke with a combination of utter determination, unassailable integrity, fearlessness, and the peace of someone who knows that their cause is just. Her commitment was palpable -- and infectious.
Oh how true. She represents the epitome of all that is good about a neighboring country that I love, but is sadly fast losing the respect of the world because of a dictator. It just makes my blood boil when I think of how this coward is treating Cindy. Kindly read the remainder of Ariannas' post HERE, and I am sure you will agree. Particularly these, her closing comments.
Who knows, her example might even be just the thing to give Hillary and Harry and the rest of the Democratic leaders the spine transplant they so desperately need.
Well we can only hope and pray that this will be the case, now that leadership has been found in one mothers' vigil in honor of her son. If you wish to keep up to date with the events at Camp Casey, Trouthout.org has live blogging here at One Mother's Stand. And please don't forget, you can support Cindy at MeetWithCindy.org, or Code Pink.

When Your Ratings Are Down - Threaten War

In a stern warning to Iran, President Bush said "all options are on the table" if the Iranians refuse to comply with international demands to halt their nuclear program, pointedly noting he has already used force to protect U.S. security.
As poll numbers show a steady decline in his approval rating King George is doing what he normally does - make threats of, or start a war. Don't forget there is an election coming up, so the politics of fear have to start.
"The use of force is the last option for any president. You know, we've used force in the recent past to secure our country,"
Oh yes George, we remember all too well. And that is just going swimmingly isn't it? MORE....

    Hypocrisy Update Part Two

Cenk Uygur: What Fox News Channel Would Have Done to Rosa Parks Cenk Uygur Fri Aug 12,12:47 PM ET Cindy Sheehan – in case you’ve been living in a box or you only watch the mainstream media – is the mom of slain Iraq War veteran Casey Sheehan. She is protesting in front of George Bush’s Crawford ranch this month. This grieving mom has been characterized as a flip-flopper, accused of putting on a public circus, lambasted as a publicity seeking grandstander and criticized for not truly speaking for her family since an aunt and a godmother Matt Drudge found somewhere in the Sheehan family disagrees with her. The conservative attack machine is in high gear in the efforts to tear this woman down. That made me think of how it would have been in the Civil Rights era if Fox News Channel, Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and the rest of the gang were around back then. O’Reilly: “Rosa Parks claims she speaks for all of the African-Americans in the South, but in fact, we have found two African-Americans who say they disagree with her. They say she’s just trying to gain publicity and doesn’t speak for anyone in her race. They would know, they’re black.” Hannity: “Could Rosa Parks be angling for a Senate run? What does she have to gain from her public stand? Coming up next, the incredible story of how this woman might be deceiving the whole country!”

    Hypocrisy Update

I came across this today in my usual Saturday blog-surfing, and just had to share it with you. This post from Daily Dissent is a wonderful reminder of the hypocrisy from the likes of Delay, Santorum, Hannity, and of course GW himself when the administration of the US was being run by Bill Clinton, using their own words. Here is just a few examples:
"You can support the troops, but not the president." - Representative Tom Delay (R-TX) "The President is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy." - Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) "Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" - Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99.
I will leave the grand-daddy of them all, the quote from King George himself for you to read for yourself by heading on over to Daily Dissent. There are many more quotes there that will show the rank hypocrisy of the war-loving Rethugs who now belittle Cindy Sheehan and others who DARE to question dear leader's foolish actions in Iraq. The next time one of these idealogues decides to spout off let's remind them of their own shrill talking points when the tables were turned.

    Finally Some Decency

Needless to say, I am more than impressed by this post by a Conservative Republican on his blog The Cunning Realist. What a breath of fresh air to read a true analysis that shows some decency:
Even when something really outrages me, usually that outrage gives way to a bit of calm, measured thinking. With the Cindy Sheehan story, that's not the case. If one needed any further proof that this incarnation of "Republicans" and alleged conservatives includes a faction that has gone completely and tragically over the edge, the smear campaign against Cindy Sheehan is it.
    [SNIP]
There are so many side issues of shamelessness and crass opportunism in this story it makes my head spin. Think about the gall of a political and media machine "accusing" a private citizen of changing her mind (imagine that!) about an elected and supposedly accountable public official. When did a private citizen supposedly changing her opinion about something rise to the same level as a flip-flop about firing anyone involved in the leaking a CIA agent's name? At what point did the ability to change one's mind about a politician become something to be ridiculed and accused of instead of cherished as a basic right? And it's not as if in the past year we haven't learned anything about the pre-war manipulation of intelligence, as well as the incompetent planning, that resulted in the death of Cindy Sheehan's son and thousands of others like him.
I would urge you to visit this blog, and read the entire post including the comments. As I said, it truly is a breath of fresh air. But isn't it sad, and what does it say about a political party that has been hijacked by extremists, that this isn't the norm?

    A Soldier's View

While the right-wing spin machine headlined by the likes of O'Reilly and Malkin jabber on defaming Cindy Sheehan, this soldier tells us exactly what it is like in Iraq and shows his support for Bush, with his silence.
"We're driving down this road and there's this tiny bridge over a little canal," he says. "They had rigged up this bomb and they had a tripwire running across the bridge and we hit it and it blew up."
    [SNIP]
I started patting myself down and that's when I noticed that my face took some shrapnel," he says. "It was all swollen on this side, so when I'm patting myself down, my middle finger went, like, this deep into my cheek where the shrapnel went in." He points to a spot about halfway down his finger, showing how far it went into the shrapnel wound behind his right eye, which is still pretty much blind, unable to see anything but bright light. "Then I started checking out my leg. I knew my femur was broken, but at that time I didn't know my calf was missing," he says.
    [SNIP]
One day a nurse came in to ask Rodgers if he wanted to meet President Bush, who was visiting the hospital. Rodgers declined. "I don't want anything to do with him," he explains. "My belief is that his ego is getting people killed and mutilated for no reason -- just his ego and his reputation. If we really wanted to, we could pull out of Iraq. Maybe not completely but enough that we wouldn't be losing people -- at least not at this rate. So I think he himself is responsible for quite a few American deaths."
I would hope Malkin, O'Rielly and the rest of the chickenhawks read this heartbreaking account of this soldier's story, and then tell us they have the right to speak for Cindy or anyone else who has given so much to this country. And you do this in the safety and comfort of your own little world where Bush is god and all is right with the world. Sign up and go over there and do the fighting yourselves' you damn hypocrites then tell us how wonderful life is under King George's rule.

Questions For The Coward In Crawford

I have a few questions for that sleazy coward hiding out in Crawford: You managed to cut short a weekend in Crawford to fly back to DC to sign a bill that would interfere with a personal matter between a husband and his brain-dead wife.....Why not walk a few hundred feet and meet with Cindy? You managed to interrupt your vacation to fly to New Mexico to sign an "energy bill" that did nothing to help the energy problem but did plenty to enrich the oil companies that supported you financially.....Why not walk a few hundred feet and meet with Cindy? You manage to fly from state to state to try and force-feed a social security plan on the public that does nothing but enrich the investment groups on Wall Street.....Why not walk a few hundred feet and meet with Cindy? You fly far and wide imploring us to support the troops with "living" troops as a backdrop for your photo-op.....Why not walk a few hundred feet and meet with Cindy? Have you no sense of decency and compassion to.....walk a few hundred feed and meet with Cindy? After you answer my questions President Coward, you might read (or have Laura read it to you) this editorial in the NYT. Since I know you have a hard time even getting through to the end of "My Pet Goat" here is what I find is the most relevant snippet for you...
Mr. Bush obviously failed to comfort Ms. Sheehan when he met with her and her family. More important, he has not helped the nation give fallen soldiers like Casey Sheehan the honor they deserve. The administration seems reluctant to have the president take part in events that would direct widespread attention to soldiers' funerals or to the thousands who have returned with serious injuries. Perhaps most troubling, Mr. Bush is not leveling about where things stand with the war. He continues to stay on message, as he did with the platitude he offered last week: "We will stay the course; we will complete the job in Iraq." The public knows that things in Iraq are not going well on any number of levels, and deserves a fuller, more honest discussion led by the commander in chief. Just 38 percent of the respondents in a recent Associated Press-Ipsos poll, a new low, approved of Mr. Bush's handling of Iraq. That does not mean the remaining 62 percent agree with Ms. Sheehan that the troops should come home immediately. But it does mean that many Americans are with her, at least figuratively, at that dusty roadside in Crawford, expecting better answers.

Cindy Sheehan - In Her Own Words

After all the speculation that went on yesterday as to whether or not Cindy was threatened with arrest as a "Security Threat" if she hasn't vacated her camp by Thursday, Cindy verified the threat via her own post at dKos
In the early afternoon, we got word that if we were still there by Thursday, we were going to be deemed a "security threat" to the president. Condi and Rummy are coning in on Thursday for a "policy" meeting. Don't they mean conspiracy to commit crimes meeting? I just don't understand why we will be a security threat on Thursday when we aren't now? If we don't leave on Thursday, we will be arrested. Well, I am not leaving. There are only three things that would make me leave: if George comes out and talks to me; if August comes to an end, or if I am arrested.
So there you have it my friends in her own words. That lying, crooked, bastard who thinks he is King George and can do any damn thing he pleases actually intends to let this happen. He is neither a king nor a president he is nothing but a two-bit thug and a dictator. Regarding the latest manouver by the right-wing media and blogs questioning her motives and taking her words out of context:
The VERY LAST THING I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS IS: Why do the right wing media so assiduously scrutinize the words of a grief filled mother and ignore the words of a lying president?
Mr. Compassionate Conservative himself would actually let a grieving mother be arrested. A grieving mother who simply wants direct answers to direct questions, and he hasn't got the balls to meet with her but will show his "manly testosterone level" by letting her be arrested as a "security risk". George you slime-ball!!!!! If you want to arrest someone as a security risk, look no further than your own administration. Start with your Vice-President, Karl Rove, Scoter Libby and then look in the friggin' mirror. Read Cindy's complete post at dKos, and show her your support at meetwithcindy.org and CODE PINK That Coward In Crawford would do well to remember this:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
That also applies to you and your actions (or those under your authority) George whether you like it or not.

Who Is Obstructing Justice - Libby, Miller Or Bush?

If the exclusive report written by Murray Waas for the online edition of The American Prospect is accurate, and no one has disputed it, I. "Scooter" Libby is purposely obstructing the investigation into the Plame leak, or George Bush is complicit in allowing it to happen by not ordering him to cooperate. In the article titled "The Meeting", Wass discloses that he has found out through his sources that
Libby, the chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has told federal investigators that he met with New York Times reporter Judith Miller on July 8, 2003, and discussed CIA operative Valerie Plame, according to legal sources familiar with Libby's account.
That makes it two days after Joe Wilson published his op-ed piece contradicting Bush's claim in his SOTU address that "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa". So what makes that meeting important?
The new disclosure that Miller and Libby met on July 8, 2003, raises questions regarding claims by President Bush that he and everyone in his administration have done everything possible to assist Fitzgerald's grand-jury probe. Sources close to the investigation, and private attorneys representing clients embroiled in the federal probe, said that Libby's failure to produce a personal waiver may have played a significant role in Miller’s decision not to testify about her conversations with Libby, including the one on July 8, 2003.
If everyone in his administration have done everything possible to assist in the investigation, why hasn't Libby signed that waiver allowing Miller to testify and get out of jail? If Bush truly wanted this investigation to go forward, he would order him to sign such a waiver. Especially in light of the fact that Miller herself stated
she would not consider providing any information to investigators about conversations with Libby or anyone else without a more specific, or personal, waiver. She said she considers general waivers to be inherently coercive. Bill Keller, the executive editor of The New York Times, has previously said Miller had not been granted "any kind of a waiver … that she finds persuasive or believes was freely given.
Unless of course that is a red-herring on Miller's part and she is only using that as an excuse not to testify out of the fear of implicating herself. I tend to agree with this scenario posted at Talk Left
I think Judith Miller is protecting her stable of Pentagon sources - not just Lewis Libby. And that range could establish the coverup and implicate those at the very top - up to or just short of Dick Cheney. I don't think a personalized waiver from Libby would have made any difference at all. What Miller would need to talk is an assurance from Fitzgerald that she will be questioned only about her meeting and conversations with Libby and that she need not reveal any other source. Or, she needs the same assurance from Fitzgerald that he gave to Walter Pincus: that she can testify to the substance of her conversations with her source but not confirm his identity.
So there you have it. Either Libby is obstructing justice along with Miller to protect Bush/Cheney et al, or Bush is obstructing justice by permitting it. For an excellent timeline of how/when things unfolded in this entire Plame leak, go to DCCC.

Code Pink Says Sheehan Arrest Only Speculation

    Via dKos
CODEPINK was just able to get through to Cindy and Diane Wilson in Crawford, and there was a miscommunication---the notion that Cindy and others would be arrested was only conjecture by a state representative, not any law enforcement official. Bush's motorcade will be driving down the road where Cindy is camped out en route to a fundraiser Thursday, and the representative told protesters that he "imagined" they would be arrested as a national security threat. meetwithcindy.org has updates, but the site is down

Is Cindy Sheehan To Be Arrested ?

Surely even King George is THIS stupid. I have come across two reports now saying that Cindy Sheehan has been notified that if she has not left the site of her protest at the Bush (hideout) ranch by Thursday she will be arrested as a "security threat". The first word of this comes from a post at Daily Kos, and now there is yet another report on this at Dying To Preserve Lies.
This is credible report, as it comes from David Swanson of afterdowningstreet.org. Cindy stays in contact with him. Right now the afterdowningstreet.org and the new meetwithcindy.org sites are down. David posted to Daily Kos the news update since DK has such a wide reading audience. Cindy Sheehan to Be Arrested Thursday by David Swanson Mon Aug 8th, 2005 at 10:55:39 PDT Cindy Sheehan phoned me from Texas a few minutes ago to say that she's been informed that beginning Thursday, she and her companions will be considered a threat to national security and will be arrested. Coincidentally, Thursday is the day that Rice and Rumsfeld visit the ranch, and Friday is a fundraiser event for the haves and the have mores. Cindy said that she and others plan to be arrested. http://www.meetwithcindy.org
Now I don't know if this is legitimate or not and I am continuing to dig for details. I went to the site mentioned in the post, meetwithcindy.org, and there is NO mention of an impending arrest there so I would urge everyone to use just a touch of caution when reading this report. If you read the comments in the dKos post, there is talk of everything from a march on Crawford, to lining up legal help, to outright skepticism. Personally, I cannot believe even Bush or his handlers would be this stupid. Can you imagine the PR nightmare this would create? I do have a couple of theories IF THIS IS TRUE however. To me this sounds like a typical Rove trick. Get everyone all worked up, have a mass of people show up in Crawford and start protesting, and then 1.) Start arresting people saying they were out of control thereby smearing Cindy Sheehan or 2.) While the crowd is all there Bush makes a grand appearance and invite her in for a meeting. The smear campaign has already started thanks to the administrations personal mouthpiece Matt Drudge so theory #1 get's my vote. Seriously, if Rove would sink so low as to jeopradize the security of the country by leaking a CIA operative's name, he wouldn't even give a second thought to one woman who disagrees with the chimp and his war. By doing this, they can point their collective fingers at her and her supporters and say the protest was "out of control" and a danger to the President, the same as they did wherever there was a protest during the campaign or his social security tour. One other point that would back this theory. It was reported in the NYT that Bush is scheduled to attend a fundraiser just down the road from where Cindy is located and his motorcade will have to drive by her to get there. I give you these theories only on the possibility that the report is true. Personally I still can't see it happening.

Peter Jennings Succumbs To Lung Cancer

It is with utmost sadness that we received the news late last evening that Peter Jennings of ABC News "World News Tonight," passed away losing his two year battle with lung cancer.
    Image hosted by Photobucket.com
In my opinion, if you were to google the words "honesty" or "integrity" you should find Peter's photo. The loss of Peter Jennings completes the last of the truly honest anchors who actually took seriously the fact they were invited by US into OUR homes each night, and treated the viewer with respect and dignity because of that. I will always be proud to think of him as a fellow Canadian. Even though he became an American citizen he never did totally renounce his Canadian citizenship, and claimed "dual-citizenship" status. As he often explained, he made that decision for family reasons, and also because he truly loved the United States. Even though he loudly professed this love of the country, the wingnuts of the right just had to reply with their usual sarcasm. As AP reported today
When Jennings spoke at the dedication of a museum celebrating the U.S. Constitution in 2003, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told him, "not bad for a Canadian."
I won't soil his reputation by quoting some of the more disgusting comments about this fine, upstanding gentleman that can be found on some of the right-leaning blogs. Suffice it to say they are their usual hypocritical and ignorant selves. Indeed, some also criticized him as a pretty face unfit for the promotion. Using the Canadian pronunciations for some words and once misidentifying the Marine Corps' anthem as "Anchors Aweigh" didn't help his reputation. Gee I wonder how many of them can name the "official" title of the anthem? As for pronunciations, I would simply say to them listen to the way your own President uses the English language. Colleagues had this to say about Peter
ABC News President David Westin said late Sunday. "Peter has been our colleague, our friend, and our leader in so many ways. None of us will be the same without him".
Describing his own style of news reporting, he had this to say
"There are a lot of people who think our job is to reassure the public every night that their home, their community and their nation is safe," he told author Jeff Alan. "I don't subscribe to that at all. I subscribe to leaving people with essentially 'sorry it's a cliche' a rough draft of history. Some days it's reassuring, some days it's absolutely destructive."
Imagine that, a news broadcaster letting the viewer form their own opinion of a report. It seems to me that maybe the Miller, Limbaugh and Hannity types in the news business should take some lessons from Peter's style, instead of force-feeding the Administrations' lies to their audience. Tom Bettag, who competed against Mr. Jennings as executive producer of the "CBS Evening News with Dan Rather" and later worked with Mr. Jennings as a colleague as executive producer of "Nightline", said
"He established a level of trust with the viewer that would be difficult for anyone else to match going forward."
There you have it my friends, the key word that best describes his relationship with his viewers.....TRUST. I would urge you to visit The New York Times to read a comprehensive and well written article of Peter's history. Rest in wonderful peacefulness Peter you will be sadly missed.
Don't Grieve for me for now I'm free, I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now, He set me free.
**Please note, I have place a memorial of Peter in the sidebar where is will remain for the next week to show my personal respect for him.**

Cindy Wants To See Bush - Asks "Why Did You Kill My Son?"

Good for Cindy I just knew she wouldn't back down. Despite being forced to walk in a ditch and not on the road by the local police she did get to the ranch in Crawford. The AP is reporting that she did not get to see Bush himself, but did speak with two of his aids.
Supported by more than 50 demonstrators who chanted, "W. killed her son!" Cindy Sheehan told reporters: "I want to ask the president, 'Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?'" Sheehan, 48, didn't get to see Bush, but did talk about 45 minutes with national security adviser Steve Hadley and deputy White House chief of staff Joe Hagin, who went out to hear her concerns.
Sheehan says she will continue staying right where whe is until she talks to Bush personally. As for the meeting with Hadley and Hagin:
"They (the advisers) said we are in Iraq because they believed Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, that the world's a better place with Saddam gone and that we're making the world a safer place with what we're doing over there," Sheehan said in a telephone interview after the meeting. "They were very respectful. They were nice men. I told them Iraq was not a threat to the United States and that now people are dead for nothing. I told them I wouldn't leave until I talked to George Bush." She said Hagin told her, "I want to assure you that he (Bush) really does care." "And I said if he does care, why doesn't he come out and talk to me."
As well he should. He rambles on far and wide to all who will listen about how much he cares, well let him prove that right now while he has the chance. All he has to do is show some respect to the mother of a son, Casey, 24, who was killed in Sadr City, Iraq, on April 4, 2004. Is that too much to ask of this man who lied to the country in order to get into this war? I don't think so. Because of his lies, Cindy and over 1800 other mothers have lost a child. I will let Cindy's own words end this post since it says all that need to be said:
"I want to ask the president, `Why did you kill my son? What did my son die for?" she said, her voice cracking with emotion. "Last week, you said my son died for a noble cause' and I want to ask him what that noble cause is?"

UPDATE - 'Many Saved' From Jet In Sea

    CNN is reporting...
Many of the 39 passengers and crew aboard a TunisAir flight have been saved after the aircraft went down Saturday off the coast of Sicily in Italy, according to Italian aviation officials.
According to the Italian News Agency (ANSA),
At least 24 of the reported 39 passengers and crew who were aboard have been pulled from the cold waters about 19 miles north of Palermo, on the northwestern tip of Sicily.
The ATR 72 was headed for the Tunisian island of Djerba, a popular destination for European tourists, when the plane reported an engine problem around 3:20 p.m. (9:20 a.m. ET) and tried to make an emergency landing at Palermo's airport, but landed in the sea 20 minutes later.

ACTION ALERT - Help Cindy Sheehan Get Answers From Bush

Below is an important message from Cindy Sheehan, a fearless champion for peace who lost her son Casey in combat in Iraq last year:
Dear Friends and Supporters, George Bush said speaking about the dreadful loss of life in Iraq in August: (08/03/05): "We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission." "The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause." In reaction to these two assinine and hurtful statements, members of Gold Star Families for Peace GSFP, are going to George's vacation home in Crawford, Tx this Saturday, August 6th at 11:00 am to confront him on these two statements. 1) We want our loved ones' sacrifices to be honored by bringing our nation's sons and daughters home from the travesty that is Iraq IMMEDIATELY, since this war is based on horrendous lies and deceptions. Just because our children are dead, why would we want any more families to suffer the same pain and devastation that we are? 2) We would like for him to explain this "noble cause" to us and ask him why Jenna and Barbara are not in harm's way, if the cause is so noble. 3) If George is not ready to send the twins, then he should bring our troops home immediately. We will demand a speedy withdrawal. GSFP, will be joined by members of Veteran's for Peace (VFP), Military Families Speak Out (MFSO), Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), Code Pink, and Crawford Peace House. We GSFP, members will not leave until we get answers from George Bush. We deserve and expect him to welcome us with answers to as why our loved ones are dead. Every worker for peace, every worker for justice, every person who wants our country back are welcomed to join us on Saturday. Show George Bush that we mean business. Be there to support us family members who have already been through so much. We are fighting for our country, our world, especially the children. Crawford is about 2 hours from Dallas where the VFP Convention is being held this weekend. There will be car pools from the convention. HONOR OUR LOVED ONES' SACRIFICES: BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW!!!! Bring water and hats...we plan on staying until we are arrested or satisfied with the answers. (I am betting on jail). Please pass this on to your friends, lists, and media. Cindy Sheehan
Thanks to the Downing Street Memos, we now know George Bush's invasion of Iraq in 2003 was based entirely on lies. Iraq had no stockpiles of WMD's or Al Qaeda ties, and Bush knew it. And Bush had no plans to rebuild Iraq after his invasion. Two years later, Iraq is a bloody quagmire: U.S. soldier deaths are nearing 2,000, over 13,000 have been maimed, and 30% of returning combat troops have serious mental health problems At least 24,685 Iraqi civilians have been killed, possibly over 100,000 U.S. taxpayers have been burdened with $200 billion more in debt Torture approved by the White House has made the world hate us The war has tripled global terrorism, not reduced it Military retention and recruitment are down, making America weaker Because of these huge costs, the American people now oppose the war by 59%-39%. But George Bush stubbornly refuses to discuss a timetable for withdrawal - ignoring a request by 103 Iraqi Members of Parliament! On Thanksgiving Day 2003, Bush snuck into Iraq to deliver a fake turkey to our troops. On Thanksgiving Day 2005, Bush should end his "turkey" of a war by starting to bring our troops home. Help us collect 1 million signatures to tell George Bush it's time to get Out of Iraq Please add your signature to Cindy SheEhan's petition HERE.

For Blubberin' Bob This Was Act Two

Well friends, it looks as if the was Part 2 of the an original Novakula horror story. Via Vanity Fair Roundtable
On the afternoon of last year's New Hampshire primary, Robert Novak was in the Merrimack Diner in Manchester broadcasting a segment of Crossfire. It was a garden-variety event for Novak, then on his 12th presidential campaign and his umpteenth edition of CNN's gabfest, until a local man, furious with Novak for outing a covert C.I.A. agent in his syndicated column, started shouting at him during a commercial break. "You're a traitor!" he shrieked. "You're a traitor!" The man was hushed up, the program resumed, and Novak talked more politics. But afterward, as Novak made his way to the CNN bus, his tormentor followed, taunted him some more, and allegedly shoved him from behind. Novak, a short septuagenarian whose three-piece suits hide a considerable gut, grabbed the much larger man by the arm and gave him a shove back, sending him sprawling. Then he prepared for more serious skirmishing. "Novak looked like a little caged animal, fist locked and cocked back," an unsympathetic observer later wrote, "like a garden troll gone insane." Before he could take another swing, his Crossfire counterpart Paul Begala dragged him away.
Now there is a perfect description for Blubberin' Bob "a garden troll gone insane". This is also an eyeopening description of just where the bow-tied ignoramous Tucker Carlson, who also can't seem to hold a job, learned the craft on how to be obnoxious. Maybe the next installment (Part 3 of the Novakula series) will be Kovakula dressed in his green troll suit (with prisoner on the back) the frog jump off to a waiting police van. One can only hope.

Well At Least Google Get's It

I am sure many of you are already aware of this, but I figure a little brain nudge never hurts now and again to be reminded of the results of George Bush's administrative decisions and his accomplishments while in office. Go to Google Search LINK HERE, type in the word "failure" without the quotes and see who/what still has the number 1 spot.

    Blabberin' Bullshit Bob Transcript

    Via Wonkette
ED HENRY: katherine harris went onto the house of representatives. now she wants to move over to the united states senate. today she got the news that the speaker of the florida house won't challenge her for the republican nomination. she is blaming unnamed newspapers for tarnishing her image by doctoring her makeup with photo shop. that computer program. bob, have you been investigating this story? BOB NOVAK: no, but i've had the same experience that she did. a lot of my trouble in the world is they've doctored my makeup and the colorrized me in a lot of newspapers on my picture. i sympathize with her. HENRY: who did it? NOVAK: i can't tell you. JAMES CARVILL: yeah, the two happiest people in america today about this decision is bill nelson and jay leno. i mean -- HENRY: bill nelson the democratic senator. CARVILLE: and jay leno. they're going to go nuts over this. they're messing with my makeup. you don't know who it is. i mean, let's say this. she's going to be good for the humor circuit and the speech circuit. she's good for a lot. i think that nelson, it's no secret the white house wanted the speaker to run. i suspect the nelson people are feeling pretty good here today. NOVAK: a couple of points here. the first place, don't be too sure she's going to lose. all the establishment's against her. i've seen these republican -- anti-establishment candidates do pretty well. ronald reagan, i guarantee you the establishment wasn't for him. we just elected a senator from oklahoma, senator tom cole bert, everybody in the establishment was against him. she might get elected. [CROSS TALK] NOVAK: let me finish what i'm going to say, james. i know you hate to hear me CARVILLE: he's got to show she is right wingers he's got backbone. show them you're tough. NOVAK: i think that's bull [didn't know automatic transcribers censored themselves!] and i hate that. just let it go.
So that's the story poor Bob was upset about his makeup being doctored........Oh I get it, he is really Ann Coulter out of drag!!! UPDATE..... Novak Suspended By CNN AP is reporting that CNN has issued a statement appologizing for Novak's behavior and suspended him indefinitely. MORE.....

BlabberinBob Freaks Out On The Air

THIS IS BULLSHIT!! Yelled Blabberin' Bob Novak live and on the air then stormed off the CNN "Inside Politics" set. Nothing controversial was being spoken about at the time, unless you count Katherine Harris' makeup job controversial. Well, actually I guess some do.......LOL Take a look at the clip courtesy of Crooks And Liars. There is speculation that he had been told before going on air that they would be discussing the Rove/Plame leak story so perhaps his nerves got the best of him. Or perhaps he has had recent communication with the prosecutor and his position in things aren't quite turning out the way he thought they would. Since everyone is in a speculation frame of mind over this outburst, I will do so also. Maybe he didn't "spill the beans" for immunity as everyone thinks. Perhaps he just plain testified the same as everyone else, and feels the heat closing in on him along with Rove. Can you say target instead of witness? Via mediabistro.com
"Bob Novak's behavior on CNN today was inexcusable and unacceptable. Mr. Novak has apologized to CNN, and CNN apologizes to its viewers for his language and actions. We've asked Mr. Novak to take some time off," a CNN spokeswoman told us.
Thanks CNN the viewers need a vacation from that piece of pond scum.

Mr. Ethics Himself To Speak At Sunday Justice II

Tom Delay, the epitome of ethics in Washington, has been scheduled to speak at the next Sunday Justice broadcast. Despite the organizers saying they will never invite a politician to one of their events again, there he is listed as one of the speakers there on their website. It looks to me like they share the same ethical values as their patron saint. Imagine that, St. Tom of Ethics, listed beside the rest of those well-known divisive crackpots which include the turncoat himself Senator Zell Miller (D-GA), everyone's favorite "born again" break-in artist Chuck Colson, and "gay basher/son-rejecter" Phyllis Schlafly. What a wonderful line-up eh? And all under the direction of those two "pillars of society" Tony Perkins and Dr. James Dobson (wonder if he will bring Sponge Bob Squarepants with him?). It is pretty obvious that this is nothing but a rally for the nomination of Judge Roberts in advance of his hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee, since the "theme" of the gathering is "God Save the United States and this Honorable Court!". The Tennessean reports
it will focus on "the court's hostility toward religion and Christianity in particular," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. The first Justice Sunday criticized Democrats for being "against people of faith" because they opposed judicial nominees based on their views on abortion and religious issues. Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn., the majority leader, contributed a videotaped statement to that telecast, and Democrats and liberal religious groups accused Frist of politicizing matters of faith and of demeaning his opponents' personal devotion. Perkins said the organizers of Justice Sunday II had not decided whether to include elected officials. "It was pretty hot last time for them, so I don't want to put them on the spot again," he said.
Obviously Delay doesn't feel like he is being "put on the spot" as Perkins put it, since once again he has chosen to assist in dividing the nation while pandering to the same group of wingnuts as Frist did at the last event.

    Prisoner Treatment Was "Humane"

Or at least that's what we were all told just a few weeks back by Air Force Lt. Gen. Randall Schmidt who testified before the the Senate Armed Services Committee and stated
"As the bottom line, though, we found no torture. Detention and interrogation operations were safe, secure and humane."
And reported by AP back on July 13th. How very strange then because now we have WaPo reporting that Investigative records about the death of Iraqi Maj. Gen. Abed Hamed Mowhoush show
[He] was being stubborn with his American captors, and a series of intense beatings and creative interrogation tactics were not enough to break his will. On the morning of Nov. 26, 2003, a U.S. Army interrogator and a military guard grabbed a green sleeping bag, stuffed Mowhoush inside, wrapped him in an electrical cord, laid him on the floor and began to go to work. Again. It was inside the sleeping bag that the 56-year-old detainee took his last breath through broken ribs, lying on the floor beneath a U.S. soldier in Interrogation Room 6 in the western Iraqi desert. Two days before, a secret CIA-sponsored group of Iraqi paramilitaries, working with Army interrogators, had beaten Mowhoush nearly senseless, using fists, a club and a rubber hose, according to classified documents.... "The indig were hitting the detainee with fists, a club and a length of rubber hose," according to classified investigative records. Soldiers heard Mowhoush "being beaten with a hard object" and heard him "screaming" from down the hall, according to the Jan. 18, 2004, provost marshal's report. The report said four Army guards had to carry Mowhoush back to his cell. Although Mowhoush's death certificate lists his cause of death as "asphyxia due to smothering and chest compression," the Dec. 2, 2003, autopsy, quoted in classified documents and released with redactions, showed that Mowhoush had "contusions and abrasions with pattern impressions" over much of his body, and six fractured ribs. Investigators believed a "long straight-edge instrument" was used on Mowhoush, as well as an "object like the end of an M-16" rifle. "Although the investigation indicates the death was directly related to the non-standard interrogation methods employed on 26 NOV, the circumstances surrounding the death are further complicated due to Mowhoush being interrogated and reportedly beaten by members of a Special Forces team and other government agency (OGA) employees two days earlier," said a secret Army memo dated May 10, 2004.
Now of course the soldiers bear responsibility for this death, but
"The interrogation techniques were known and were approved of by the upper echelons of command of the 3rd ACR," [the lawyer for one of the soldiers] said in a news conference. "They believed, and still do, that they were appropriate and proper."
That's right my friends, the ULTIMATE responsibility rests with King George (in collusion with his now Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales' approval) along with Cheney and Rumsfeld. Humane treatment indeed!!!! MORE.....

King George Passes Physical - Maybe

    The Washington Post is reporting
President Bush was pronounced "fit for duty" after an annual checkup Saturday that showed that the 59-year-old commander in chief, an avid mountain bike rider, has lost 8 pounds since his last physical exam in December.
Fit for what duty? We all know his tongue is fine, God knows we here enough lies to know that much without a Dr. reporting it. I'll tell you one thing though. They obviously didn't do a brain scan probably because they forgot to give him an enema. Just as well I guess. As they say, "Move on ... nothing there to see".

Secret Iranian Bombing Plan In Place

The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. ICH brings us the story, written by Philip Giraldi, a former CIA Officer, that first appeared in The American Conservative:
In Washington it is hardly a secret that the same people in and around the administration who brought you Iraq are preparing to do the same for Iran. The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons.
This may sound "tinfoil hattery", but I have an awful feeling that once again warnings of a terror attack will be ignored by the neocon cabal in the White House very conveniently giving them a reason to extend the illegal war and occupation of Iraq into Iran. Further, I believe this is the reason, (and the ONLY reason), that they are speaking of removing "some" troops from Iraq next year. With the specific purpose of recalling them for the new "war on terror" this time in Iran. After all we all know King George believes we should "fight them over there instead of at home". This also gives us a peek into the mindset of Bush and Cheney for the "urgency" of getting Bolton installed at the UN, and a loyal right winger onto the Supreme Court in case they are challenged here at home. God help us all. MORE.....

    Priorities Priorities Priorities

As I posted previously, the powers that be in the Senate took time to pass S. 397, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act which prohibits civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. What I didn't put in that post was the rest of the story.......... They took the time to pass this bill BEFORE leaving for their vacations by pushing aside legislation which would have completed a $491 billion defense bill. It is not often you find an article critical of the administration in Army Times but they did carry these remarks from Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii).
“For years, we’ve heard the president and congressional Republicans speak eloquently about honoring our troops,” Inouye said. “But this week — when push came to shove — their priorities were different.” The senator added: “Our men and women who have served should not worry about funding for health care year after year, and our soldiers on the front lines should get the resources they need. Our Congress could consider our men and our women in uniform as our nation’s top priority.”
As you know, Inouye is an Army veteran who lost his right arm in World War II. Incidently, regarding that vote in the Senate, it passed 65-31 Friday, with Inouye in opposition. I will do my best to hunt up the names and party affiliations of those that voted in favor and post them here as an update. UPDATE..... Here is the vote. To save space, I am only listing the names of the turncoat Democrats who voted in favor of this bill. Let them know exactly what you think of their priorities and ask them why they hate the troops. Especially Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) Baucus (D-MT) Byrd (D-WV) Conrad (D-ND) Dorgan (D-ND) Johnson (D-SD) Kohl (D-WI) Landrieu (D-LA) Lincoln (D-AR) Nelson (D-FL) Nelson (D-NE) Pryor (D-AR) Reid (D-NV) Rockefeller (D-WV) Salazar (D-CO)
