Look Out Kraft You're In The AFA Gunsights

Kraft Foods is supporting the upcoming Gay Games in Chicago, and that has Donald Wildmon, Chairman of American Family Association's panties all in a knot. Wildmon demanded that Kraft rescind their sponsorship. Here is the statement to Wildmon by Marc Firestone, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Kraft Foods Inc., in refusing to cancel their sponsorship. "Diversity is more than a word many people like to say. At Kraft we truly respect all kinds of differences. And diversity is not a selective concept . By definition, it's nothing if not inclusive. We respect diversity of ethnicity, gender, experience, background, personal style and yes, sexual orientation and gender identity. Recognizing, respecting and valuing these differences helps us be a more successful business and a workplace where all employees can realize their full potential." Well poor old Wildmon is none to happy to say the least. And of course has an email all prepared on their website to automatically send to Kraft: I am greatly disappointed to learn of Kraft's sponsorship of the Gay Games. I ask that Kraft withdraw its sponsorship. If Kraft does not withdraw its sponsorship of the Gay Games, and if calls for a boycott of Kraft, I will participate. Give it up Donald. You will have about as much success with this as you did with your boycott of Disneyworld and Ford Motor or your attempted influence of Microsofts' hiring practices or sponsorship of progressive legislation. It is time for you to realize you can disapprove of another's lifestyle as is your right. But you and the rest of the Right-wing Christian Taliban will not control the lives of the rest of America.
