Wingnuts Call For Impeachment Or Worse
Well it was bound to happen, especially in this atmosphere created by Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX) that has described recent decisions "judicial tyranny". And Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) who makes excuses for the actions of those committing violence against judges. In a forum being held this weekend in Washington titled "Remedies to Judicial Tyranny" these far right conservative nutcases decided that Justice Athony Kennedy, a Ronald Reagan appointee, should be impeached, or worse. I would suggest that Justice Kennedy get himself a good lawyer, or better yet some well built and effective body guards. The disussion started with that well known poster-woman for radical rightwing views Phyllis Schlafly stating that because Kennedy wrote an opinion forbidding capital punishment for juveniles the opinion "is a good ground of impeachment". Doesn't that show true family values the republicans are always trumpeting.....just strap up a juvenile in the chair and fry 'em. Schlafly said that since Kennedy had not met the "good behavior" requirement for office "congress ought to talk about impeachment." Apparently impeachment is just too mild a remedy for Edwin Vieira a lawyer-author and philosopher who claimed Kennedy's opinion striking down the anti-sodomy statute "upholds Marxist, Leninist, satanic principles drawn from foreign law." He then went on to offer a more permanent solution to Justice Kennedy. He advocated using Joseph Stalin's' remedy saying "He had a slogan, and it worked very well for him, whenever he ran into difficulty: 'no man, no problem,' " The full Stalin quote is "Death solves all problems: no man, no problem." Now I don't know about you, but this sounds like a call for violence against Kennedy and/or others who dare to enter an opinion from the Supreme Court bench that these radicals don't agree with, and they should be "made to pay" (as Rep. Tom DeLay opines far and wide} for such actions. When are the American people and the members of the Republican party, at least those with half a brain, going to call for an end to these calls for outright violence against judges. As for the Democratic members of congress, this type of thought process should be brought front and center during any confirmation hearings held for Bush's nominees to the courts. This conference alone should show to everyone loud and clear just what the recent Schiavo debacle was all about. It was just more hypocrisy from the Republican leadership. They didn't care about Terri Schiavo at all. It was just the beginning of the plan of action they intend to use to get the farthest of the right-wing jurists sent for confirmation by George Bush approved by congress. |

I heard about some of what happened during this conference but it seems that much of the really good stuff had been edited out. "No man, no problem." Will they be advocating Hitler's ideas next? Round 'em up and snuff 'em out? What happened to the "Culture of Life"? They are just a bunch of hypocritical jackasses. It's a witch hunt, McCarthyism all over again!
