    Former Helms' Consultant Marries

What is newsworthy about this you ask? Well normally it wouldn't be, but since this site is dedicated to showing the hypocritical ways of government, particularly those of the Republican party read on. This particular republican is Arthur Finkelstein and you see this guy is the same person who counseled Helms and others in the politics of hate and gay bashing. Yet lo and behold who did he marry but his longtime lover.........A MALE. The New York Times reports
Arthur J. Finkelstein, a prominent Republican consultant who has directed a series of hard-edged political campaigns to elect conservatives in the United States and Israel over the last 25 years, said Friday that he had married his male partner in a civil ceremony at his home in Massachusetts.
    wow, in Massachusetts no less!!!
Mr. Finkelstein, 59, who has made a practice of defeating Democrats by trying to demonize them as liberal, said in a brief interview that he had married his partner of 40 years to ensure that the couple had the same benefits available to married heterosexual couples.
Well how strange. Isn't this one of the reasons, (besides the human rights issue)that gays and lesbians want the right to marry? Remember this is also the guy who …[has] worked for a gaggle of gay-bashing Republican Senators including Lauch Faircloth (R-N.C.), Jesse Helms (R-N.C), Don Nickles (R-Okla.) and Sen. (Bob) Smith (R-New Hampshire), all of whom voted against legislation banning discrimination against gays while Finkelstein was working for them. Don't you find it just a little hypocritical that Mr. Finkelstein would use the statutes in Mass. to protect his rights, when his own Republican leaders and a Republican President are outright against same-sex marriage and proposed amending the Constitution to ban it?
