Typical Type Of Low Life Republicans Offer For Governor Of Michigan
Living as close to Detroit, Michigan as I do, the majority of television I see, or radio (other than Air America's internet stream) I hear is out of the local Detroit affiliates.
The attack adds against current incumbent Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm by her opponent Dick DeVos, Amway CEO, (whose wife Betsy DeVos, is the former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party) are truly disgusting. Then when Jennifer fights back with the truth, in typical Republican style, DeVos tries to take the high road and acts like the bereaved party. Well, considering this news recently uncovered by The Michigan Daily. I'd say he is hardly without dirty hands. Morgan Wilkens, who works for the College Republicans National Commitee seems to have come up with a couple of really fun games that she hopes will turn out large numbers of University of Michigan Republicans. From MLM Liberal:One such idea is "Catch an Illegal Immigrant Day," in which a volunteer would play the part of an illegal immigrant and hide somewhere on campus while others try to find him. The winner would receive a prize. Her other ideas include an event called "Fun with Guns," in which young Republicans would use a BB gun or paintball gun to shoot cardboard cut-outs of Democratic leaders such as Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)...Nice isn't it? Encouraging harassment of aliens and violence against Democratic leaders. Wow what a guy. It should also be noted that he and his family have been among the nation's biggest donors to Republican and religious-conservative causes. The Detroit Free Press reports that DeVos is to casual observers linked mainly to Amway Corp. (now Alticor), the direct sales giant cofounded by DeVos' father Rich DeVos and his business partner Jay VanAndel in tiny Ada, just east of Grand Rapids. In the 2004 election cycle alone, the DeVos and Van Andel families gave more than $4.7 million to GOP causes in Michigan and Florida. And what are a few of the "causes" Dickie boy and his family support? Nothing spectaular ( I say in jest). Try these on for size. The Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, Council for National Policy and the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty in Grand Rapids, the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and Michigan Right to Life. Here are a few of the other skeletons DeVos has to hide, courtesy of Peoples World Weekly: When Tom DeLay rose to power in the Republican Party in the late 1990s, DeVos began a personal and financial relationship with him. Thousands of dollars were swapped back and forth between DeLay-controlled political action committees (PACs) and DeVos. Their relationship was so tight that DeLay held the first Republican Majority Issues Committee fundraiser on DeVos' private yacht, a party which was attended by no less a personage than "Casino Jack" Abramoff, according to the Washington Post. Ultimately, in September 2005 DeLay was indicted in Texas for laundering illegal campaign funds through PACs not unlike DeVos'.And of course it is no surprise that the DeVos family is also one of the 18 families funding legislation to repeal the estate tax....to the tune of $490 million since 1998. Now there's a real "man of the people". For him to be throwing attack ads and false information about Jennifer Granholm and then playing the part of the victim is truly despicable to anyone who has even the tiniest liberal/progressive bone in their body. |

Hi there barbi, I'm happy you dropped by, and sharing the links (you're added to my blogroll btw).
Dick DeVos isn't good enough to clean Jennifer Granholm's toilet. He is a slimeball the same as Engler was. Hopefully the people of Michigan won't give him the time of day let alone their vote.
And I thank you, Canuk, for stopping by NBF!
Yep, we sure don't need another GOP slimeball!
