Bush "Covering his own backside" - Olbermann
The only true reporter in the corporate controlled media has once again come through with the truth. On his Friday night program, he stated what I and many others firmly believe. Bush is in a hurry to get his legislation regarding Article III of the Geneva Conventions only because he is "covering his own backside." As Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley from Georgetown University points out, the main reason this is coming up with such urgency now, is because he knows the International Red Cross has already or will be interviewing 14 high level detainees. It is believed by many that they will reveal in detail the treatment they received during questioning. King George knows very well that just because he says "we don't torture", doesn't make it true. If so, why is it being reported that some members of the CIA are taking out insurance policies in case they face charges? You tell me what's really behind to rush to pass retroactive legislation clarifying what is meant by "No physical or mental torture, nor any other form of coercion, may be inflicted on prisoners of war" from the Geneva Conventions. Also, keep in mind, there already is U.S. legislation "Torture Implementation Act of 2005" which outlaws the use of torture. As Prof. Turley says, "I think that the Administration senses that there is a lot of trouble coming down the mountain". Take a look at the Olbermann clip below: |
