Dem Judiciary Committee Members Release Report On Intel Manipulation

Congressman John Conyers Jr. (D-MI), ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee has announced the release of the investigation into the misuse of intelligence regarding the invasion and occupation of Iraq entitled The Constitution in Crisis: Censure and Investigate Possible Impeachment. Conyers' statement, available at Conyers Blog states in part: Today, I am releasing a staff report entitled, "The Constitution in Crisis: The Downing Street Minutes and Deception, Manipulation, Torture, Retribution and Coverups in the Iraq War. ------ The report finds there is substantial evidence the President, the Vice-President and other high ranking members of the Bush Administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq; misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for such war; countenanced torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in Iraq; and permitted inappropriate retaliation against critics of their Administration Thank God for the presence of Congressman Conyers. Without his courage and determination the Bush crime family would have gotten away with a complete, and unfortunately, bloody sham. The blood that is on the hands of this administration is overwhelming to say the least. He has also introduced a resolution of censure for both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney which can be read at www.johnconyers.com. We are also calling upon Congress to immediately censure you and Vice-President Cheney immediately. This administration is well on its' way to creating a totalitarian police state and needs to be stopped as soon as possible and in a legal manner.
