Did Frum Get A Call From George?
This is interesting. Take a look at this post at The Air America BlogBut earlier this morning, he came down even harder--and then quietly backpedaled. Some time between 9:52 AM and 10:18 AM this morning, he removed a paragraph from between the two paragraphs posted above. Here it is, recovered from the cache in my Google Desktop search: She rose to her present position by her absolute devotion to George Bush. I mentioned last week that she told me that the president was the most brilliant man she had ever met. To flatter on such a scale a person must either be an unscrupulous dissembler, which Miers most certainly is not, or a natural follower. And natural followers do not belong on the Supreme Court of the United States. This whole nomination story just get's curiouser and curioser. The latest tin-foil hattery appearing from the right is that this may be just a ploy by "Bush's Brain" Karl Rove hoping that it creates: 1)A smokescreen to keep the press and US occupied from the upcoming grand jury decision in the Plame leak investigation. (Not going to happen Karl). 2)They are hoping for a rejection of the nominee, and have a right-wing nut job waiting in the wings. (Quite a blind roll of the dice, but it possible). This does sound like something Rove would pull. That second theory may play itself out as more and more is dug up in Harriet Miers history. Let the fun begin.
