No More Goddamned Press Conferences!!

The Mayor of New Orleans told the incompetent morons that is FEMA today to ore or less get off their asses, stop grandstanding on all the press conferences, and do something. Fed up with delays in evacuation and a perceived lack of federal response to the ongoing disaster, the mayor of New Orleans lashed out at FEMA, the administration, and the president. "Why the hell can we send troops to Iraq and give Bush a blank check after 9/11 and not save the people of New Orleans?" he asked at one point. The mayor did have high praise for the newly arrived Lt. Gen. Honore, in charge of the National Guard effort in the hurricane-stricken area. After a disturbed sleep trying to quiet the outrage I feel at the non-response and ineptitude of the government in the relief effort I awakened to find NOTHING HAS REALLY CHANGED!!!! All there are STILL ,are idiots from the lead agencies and the administration offering nothing but bullshit and non-answers to the questions being asked. As late as last night, George Bush said he would visit the stricken areas today. Anyone care to wager a bet? This imbecile cares too much about himself and his wealthy henchmen. He won't DARE go there......HE IS TOO MUCH OF A FUCKIN COWARD!!! I certainly hate to bring the race card into this mess, but has anyone but me noticed that all the pictures being shown of people dying and pleading for help a FULL FOUR DAYS after the disaster struck are all black and poor? I have a terrible, terrible feeling that this administration feels these people are expendable. You can NOT convince me that if this was a bunch of light-skinned upper-class members of society they would have be moved to shelter, fed and clothed four days ago. Of course that wasn't necessary........you see THOSE PEOPLE could AFFORD to find a way and means to evacuate. The poor and black of the inner-city of New Orleans who didn't have the financial resources to get out were left then, and are still left to fend for themselves. Why the hell has King George refused aid from foreign countries...Canada being one of them? Canada's Prime Minister Paul Martin told the President that the country stands ready to help in any way and at any time and that Canadians are quite anxious to help. What is the response? SILENCE.......A DEAFENING SILENCE. No acceptance just Bush refusing specific a offer of help from Canada which has specialized equipment that is needed. From CTV, Canadian Television: A specialized urban search and rescue team from Vancouver will be joining the rescue efforts in Louisiana in the wake of hurricane Katrina. B.C. Solicitor General John Les said the province decided to send Vancouver Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) after officials in Louisiana asked for help. "We're the first non-U.S.-based team to be requested," said Les. "They're going to be helping as many people as they can." CTV Vancouver has learned that the team will board a plane Wednesday night with specific equipment that is apparently needed,heading to Lafayette, Louisiana, where local authorities will direct them to devastated areas Sounds great right? Well the only problem is, these planes and the help they contain still sit in Vancouver because Bush and his Dept. Of Homeland Security (which includes FEMA), has refused entry into the U.S. On tonight's news, CTV (Canadian TV) said that support was offered from Canada. Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. Prime Minister Paul Martin is reportedly trying to speak to President Bush tonight or tomorrow to ask him why the U.S. federal government will not allow aid from Canada into Louisiana and Mississippi. That said, the Canadian Red Cross is reportedly allowed into the area. Canadian agencies are saying that foreign aid is probably not being permitted into Louisiana and Mississippi because of "mass confusion" at the U.S. federal level in the wake of the storm. The same holds true for the country of Jamaica: WITH each passing hour, news of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina grows more horrific, but the US embassy in Kingston said the world's most powerful nation was not now accepting help from outside, even as the offers mount. Read that again: But the Kingston embassy, while stating its appreciation for the support, politely declined the offers, saying in a statement: "The United States Government is not yet requesting international assistance at this time." The reason for the lack of permission given to these and other countries that have offered to help seems to be bureaucratic miscommunication. We are told there must be a specific request made from Bush himself through Homeland Security. The administration claims this must be requested by local government to the Feds. What the hell was that we heard last night from the Mayor of New Orleans?
