What A Wonderful Way To Celebrate Independence
The wing-nuts of the religious right can't even rest on the celebration of Independence. Via Crooks And LiarsThe Extreme Religious Right comes out firing: After reading Tony Perkins latest on Justice O’Connor and then reading the phony consultation scam on Bork's nomination, if anyone believes Bush will do anything other than what he wants, I have a bridge to sell you. This is like "end times" for the Circus Clowns and they will use every ounce of political capitol they think they have earned to get their judge on the bench. The Tony Perkins post they are referring to states: “The Family Research Council often found itself on the opposite side of [O’Connor’s] most controversial decisions. This past week Justice O’Connor sided with judicial activists and ruled against the display of the Ten Commandments on public property in two cases before the high court that have offended the values of a great segment of the American public.” Perkins claims he is “confident that President Bush will name a replacement for Justice O’Connor who has the same judicial philosophy as Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, as he indicated he would in his reelection campaign.”And as for the much mentioned "compromise" nomination current AG Alberto Gonzolez, the NYT reports: Within hours after Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's announced retirement from the Supreme Court, members of conservative groups around the country convened in five national conference calls in which, participants said, they shared one big concern: heading off any effort by President Bush to nominate his attorney general, Alberto R. Gonzales, to replace her.Well so much for compromise. |
