Well I Guess It Did Happen - Pentagon
Reuters is reportingAmerican jailers at the Guantanamo prison for foreign terrorism suspects splashed a Koran with urine, kicked and stepped on the Islamic holy book and soaked it with water, the U.S. military said on Friday. In the incident involving urine, which took place this past March, Southern Command said a guard left his post and urinated near an air vent and "the wind blew his urine through the vent" and into a cell block.Ok now I believe this about as much as I believe Bush's reasons for going to war. It said a detainee told guards the urine "splashed on him and his Koran." The statement said the detainee was given a new prison uniform and Koran, and that the guard was reprimanded and given duty in which he had no contact with prisoners.I have one question here. If this was an accident, and the "wind blew the urine through a vent" why was the guard reprimanded. Doesn't make much sense to me, but then again not much does where this administration is concerned. Looks like the typical way the Bush administration acts when caught in a lie. Release as little as possible late on a Friday night and hope no one pays any attention to it. AP also reports: The Pentagon on Friday confirmed for the first time that a U.S. soldier deliberately kicked a Guantanamo Bay prisoner's Muslim holy book in violation of the military's rules for handling the Quran. In other confirmed incidents, prison guards threw water balloons in a cell block, causing an unspecified number of Qurans to get wet; a guard's urine splashed on a detainee and his Quran; an interrogator stepped on a Quran during an interrogation; and a two-word obscenity was written in English on the inside cover of a Quran.Just one more question. Well perhaps two. Do you think the administration will appologize to Newsweek? When was this inquiry started? Was Newsweek correct in referring to an active investigation? Woops I guess that's three questions but I had to ask. |
