Update On Bolton - 6 PM Vote
Well it looks like we are close to a "recess appointment" by King George as I posted earlier. According to The Washington Note, the vote is scheduled for 6 pm today. Available on CSPAN2Today, the second attempt to secure cloture on the John Bolton nomination as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations will occur at 6 p.m.The White House has yielded on nothing. Nothing. It's remarkable -- and heavy-handed. Senator Mark Pryor plans to defect from those supporting cloture and will stand with those Democrats who believe that there is a larger principle at stake regarding the Senate's right to expect the Executive Branch to comply with legitimate document and information requests when considering political appointments subject to Senate confirmation. John Bolton's nomination will fail yet again today.So it looks as if King George's hard-headed actions will go along unabated, and he will continue to abuse power by forcing Bolton into the UN Ambassador position despite the well respected rules and procedures of Congress. These thugs have give absolutely NO credence to the separation of powers clause of the Constitution which gives Congress the power to do its' Constitutional duty. MORE.... |
