House Passes Stem Cell Research Bill
AP reports that the House voted today 238-194 to lift limits on embryonic stem cell research, a measure supporters said could accelerate cures for diseases over the objections of President Bush and Tom DeLay. Bush has promised to veto the bill. In fact during his speech today, Bush said "We should not use public money to support the further destruction of human life."Ya right George, this is your policy right? If that's the case why the daily loss of human life in Iraq? What a damn hypocrite!!! And of course the other major hypocrite Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said the embryonic research bill would force taxpayers to finance "the dismemberment of living, distinct human beings."Right Tom, why is it you people seem to voice your so-called concern for human life when referring to stem cells and embryos, but once a human being is involved you quickly forget all about your concern. Just take a look at the miriad of bills, too numerous to mention here, regarding everything from clean water and air to social security that show nothing but a callous disregard for human life. Supporters said many embryos that would be studied would otherwise be discarded rather than implanted and therefore the moral obligation rested on Congress to fund research that could lead to cures for diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Rep. James R. Langevin (D-RI) said "Being pro-life also means fighting for policies that will eliminate pain and suffering." Langevin was paralyzed at the age of 16 in a gun accident. MORE.... |
