Democrats The Equivalent Of Hitler Says Santorum
Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) today on the floor of the Senate compared Democrats to Hitler over their attempts to keep the filibuster saying "What the Democrats are doing is "the equivalent of Adolph Hitler in 1942 saying, 'I'm in Paris. How dare you invade me. How dare you bomb my city? It's mine.' This is no more the rule of the senate than it was the rule of the senate before not to filibuster."Now will you please explain to me why it is ok for him to compare Democrats to Hitler and his Nazis but it was just oh so "outrageous and reprehensible" when Sen. Byrd compared the Republicans this way. Said Santorum over Byrd's remarks as reported by The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review back on March 3rd. "Senator Byrd's inappropriate remarks comparing his Republican colleagues with Nazis are inexcusable," Santorum said in a statement yesterday. "These comments lessen the credibility of the senator and the decorum of the Senate. He should retract his statement and ask for pardon."Can you say do as I say not as I do Ricky? Does anyone else find it just a bit more than a coincidence that Republicans and their mouthpieces seem to be relying on this Hitler comparison an awful lot lately? We had the ultimate Republican schill Robert Novak back on May 14th during the program Capital Gang saying this regarding any deal being struck over the filibuster "[It's] like going to a concentration camp and picking out which people go to the death chamber. You're not going to let the Democrats do that, say, We're going to -- we're going to confirm this person, we're not going to confirm the other person. They're going to -- they're going to say that this is not the way we're going to do it. They've had all kinds of different offers of that kind."Then of course we had Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform comparing the estate tax to the Holocaust as reported by The Carpetbagger Report . It looks to me like this is the latest talking points memo that must have been sent out to the Republican talking heads. Unfortunately they are also offending millions of families who suffered and lost loved ones at the hands of the real Nazis and by trivializing that horrible period of history over nothing more than a Republican power-grab is what is "outragious and reprehensible". |

That's real nice. They were so up in arms when there were comparisons going around between Bush and Hitler- which there actually ARE a lot of similarities.
