    The Story Behind The Story

The real story behind the MN State Senator who "outted" himself as being gay can now be told. Read the entire story at The Raw Story.

It is truly a compelling read, and in my opinion, state senator Paul Koering deserves the respect of all for standing up for what he truly believes. What he did as a member of the Republican Party is truly remarkable.....
on Apr. 7, Minnesota Republican state Sen. Michele Bachman moved to bring a measure allowing a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage to go to the Senate floor. The move was made despite the fact that measure had not been approved by the appropriate committees. Outside the Capitol, gay and lesbian activists were marching outside the capitol for equal rights. Koering voted no—the lone Republican to do so—and along with opposition from 34 Democrats, the measure failed. The senator said he cried all the way home.
It is shortly after this that Paul Koering made the announcement about his personal life to his constituents and the rest of us. Hopefully the people in his district will reward him for being totally honest with them. His honesty is something the entire republican party should take note of and emulate. How refreshing in this climate of Bush, Cheney,Tom DeLay and the other hypocrites in Washington that one honest Republican could stand up and be counted.
