DeLay Issues Denial
So Tommy figures he can sway his constituents by issuing a 6 page email. The online washington.com is reporting that DeLay issued a broad denial that he violated any law or House rule in accepting trips abroad, and he implored supporters back home to accept his version of what he called "the real story."Of course he fails go into any detail about the ethics committee admonishing him, or that the three republican members of the committee who crossed party lines to support the admonishment have since been kicked off the committee. In a message e-mailed to supporters in his suburban Houston district that was provided to The Washington Post yesterday, DeLay blamed the reports on Democrats, liberal groups and the "legion of Democrat-friendly press" who were trying to undermine Republican control of Congress. "It is abundantly clear that their fundamental strategy revolves around attacking me and working to tear down Republican leadership," he said. The message which is titled "What the Press Isn't Telling You" also claims that it isn't an individual Congressman's responsibility to investigate the behavior of organizations who provide the funding for overseas trips. Sure Tom just do your usual take the money and run routine. No sense upholding even the appearance of ethical behavior, after all you're the one with all the donated money that paid for your position of power. Six pages, single spaced? Methinks Tom The Hammer protesteth a bit too much. If he is truly innocent, and the victim in all this, why not let the investigations continue honestly and without his hard-handed interference.
