War Will Be Inevitable - North Korean General
Once again it appears George Bush's grandstanding and tough "cowboy talk" from the lecturn instead of private and less threatening negotiations has heightened tensions and made the world even more unstable during the North Korean nuclear testing crisis.
As Reuters has reportedU.S. President George W. Bush warned North Korea of grave consequences if it tries to sell nuclear arms, while his top diplomat headed to Seoul on Thursday for support in pressuring Pyongyang to end its atomic ambitions. In his sternest message to Pyongyang since its October 9 nuclear test, Bush said on Wednesday that the United States would use whatever means necessary to keep North Korea from proliferating nuclear arms beyond its borders.Instead of talking directly with N. Korean leaders, we now face this If President Bush continues to ask North Korea to "kneel," war "will be inevitable," and it would begin on the Korean Peninsula, North Korean Gen. Ri Chan Bok told "Good Morning America" anchor Diane Sawyer, in an exclusive interview inside North Korea. President Bush wants the country to kneel down, Ri said, and North Koreans cannot agree with that.In an interview with Diane Sawyer from North Korea on This Morning America, [Sawyer] read Ri the president's statement warning of grave consequences for North Korea should the nation continue nuclear testing or transfer nuclear technologies to third-party countries. She asked whether the general had a reaction. Ri told Sawyer that he didn't tend to believe what Bush said. "Can the general guarantee or reassure the American people that this nuclear information will not be passed to terrorists?" Sawyer asked. "We have nuclear weapons to defend our country and our people," he said.It might behoove Cowboy George to remember that there are currently about 30,000 troops in South Korea and North Korea does have access to short and long-range missiles. Or is he purposely ratcheting up this tension in order to play the fear card just before the mid-term elections? I have to wonder if the next shoe to drop will be the claim that N. Korea has supplied nuclear weapons to Iran and we absolutely MUST attack yet another middle east country. You can read the entire ABC article Here..... |
