    Memorial Day Remberance

Freedom Is Not Free I watched the flag pass by one day. It fluttered in the breeze. A young Marine saluted it, And then he stood at ease. I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, He'd stand out in a crowd. I thought how many men like him had fallen through the years. How many had died on foreign soil? How many mothers' tears? How many pilots' planes shot down? How many died at sea? How many foxholes were soldiers' graves? No, freedom is not free. I heard the sound of Taps one night, when everything was still I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times That Taps had meant "Amen" When a flag had draped a coffin Of brother or a friend. I thought of all the children, Of mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands with interrupted lives. I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington... No, freedom is not free. Author Unknown

    Kenny-boy And Bush - Greed & Corruption

Does the Ken Lay conviction also make Bush guilty? You bet it does. The association between these to fraudsters goes back years. Via The Online Beat, The Nation's John Nichols gives us an in-depth history:
The man who paid many of the biggest bills for George Bush's political ascent, Enron founder Kenneth Lay, has been found guilty of conspiracy and fraud almost five years after his dirty dealings created the greatest corporate scandal in what will be remembered as an era of corporate crime.
    [snip)
No wonder Lay had Enron give $50,000 to pay for Bush's second inaugural party in Austin in 1999 -- a showcase event that was organized by Karl Rove and others to help the Texas governor step onto the national political stage. After Bush gave Enron exactly what it wanted in 1999, by signing legislation that deregulated the state's electrical markets, Lay knew he had found his candidate for president. When Bush opened his campaign, Lay opened the cash spigots.
No matter how much distance King George "The Decider" and his criminal administration try to put between themselves and the Enron scandal, it will not ever be far enough to eliminate either from the guilty verdict. Read on....

Image hosted by Photobucket.comShots Fired On Capitol Hill

    CBS NEWS reports:
(CBS/AP) Police sealed off the Capitol on Friday after receiving reports of gunfire in a House office building across the street. Capitol police are investigating "the sound of gunfire in the garage level of the Rayburn House Office Building," said an announcement on the internal Capitol voice alarm system. In a message from the U.S. Capitol Police, police advised people that if they are in the Rayburn House Office Building, they should "quickly move into the nearest interior office space or interior hallway and away from windows."
More.... UPDATE 3:35 EDT Capitol police say they've completed their search of the Rayburn House Office Building. They say the building is now safe for normal activities. They said they could not confirm that any gunfire had taken place, and they reported no injuries and no arrests.

Privacy Rights Good For Them NOT For Us?

Now that House Majority Leader Denny Hastert has his balls in a grip by the FBI, he seems to have suddenly remembered how to recognize the Administrations' abuse of power. Isn't it interesting that while this dictator/king and his minions invade everyone's privacy not a peep is heard from Congress but now that it affects their own privacy all hell breaks loose.
House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., issued a joint statement calling on the Justice Department to return items taken from Jefferson`s office. Hastert and Pelosi said the raid violates constitutional separation of powers. "These constitutional principles were not designed by the Founding Fathers to place anyone above the law," said the statement. "Rather, they were designed to protect the Congress and the American people from abuses of power, and those principles deserve to be vigorously defended."
What a total crock of crap, from both Pelosi and Haskert. Do they think this abuse of power and lack of respect for citizens privacy just started suddenly? Maybe it's time to turf the whole damn lot of them in the upcoming elections. However since there has been no mention of an investigation of Pelosi, I am inclined to think that Hastert is the biggest hypocrite of the two. Especially since it has now leaked out that Denny Boy himself is the target of an ongoing investigation by the Justice Department. According to ABC News/Reuters
May 24, 2006 — WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the FBI, which is probing corruption in Congress, ABC News reported on Wednesday. ABC, citing high level Justice Department sources, said information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government. Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with those of other tribes.
Hastert of course has denied the story and demanded a retraction which ABC denied and are standing by their story. Suddenly Denny has his panties in a wad, and of course after crying on his buddy King George The Decider's shoulder, the always agreeable (when in comes to something illegal) President Bush has asked the Justice Department to seal all the documents and keep them for 45 days, when more facts may have emerged, and tempers have cooled. Wonderful isn't it how the Bush Crime Family always sticks together? Don't think for a minute that Bush or Hastert are the least bit worried about Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) or his rights. They are just doing their best to somehow stifle any investigation of Hastert and by using Jefferson as the reason it gives them a plausable cover. It's just business as usual folks.

    So Good To Be Home

First of all, let me appologize for leaving for an extended period of time and not informing you my faithful readers. Unfortunately, this latest episode came along with very little warning. I was forced to hussle this old body over to one of our local hospital emergency rooms. I had yet another "skin breakdown" (caused by radiation burn during my cancer treatments). Usually I take some antibiotics and all eventually goes well. Unfortunately this was not the case this time. I had rapidly (as in 2 days) developed gangrene. I had emergency surgery Friday night, And spent the rest of the time doped up on pain meds (believe me when I tell you when even 10 mg. of Morpine IV doesn't ease the pain IT IS BAD). Well I am finally home as of Tuesday afternoon, and today I am feeling great. So far it appears the surgery was successfull and all will return to normal soon. As for CanadianPerspective, I am going to give it a try to start posting again and pray I haven't lost all of my loyal readers since I've been gone. Take care all, and hopefully I can start my rants against corrupt and hypocritical politicians once again tomorrow. I am going to do a few things differently with my posts this time. I will spend equal time ranting and exposing Canadian Politicians who it seems are already starting to follow the conservative nonsense shoved at the world by King George "The Decider". So look out Stephen Harper, your next in my sight to expose as a hypocritical phony you really are.

Stephen Harper - The Truth Revealed

All through the Canadian election campaign there were charges over and over again that Conservative Stephen Harperwas nothing more than Bush Lite. Well, thanks to some hackers who managed to compromise the Ottawa commuter trains' digital sign system, we find out the truth not once but twice. Come to find out he is more like George than we thought. However, Via Edmonton Sun Ottawa Bureau,
GO Transit riders in and around Toronto may wish they didn't know after pranksters recently hacked into the commuter trains' digital sign system and offered their thoughts on the subject. "Stephen Harper Eats Babies," five different signs stated. The first incident happened last Thursday and the last happened yesterday before the signs were shut down across the line and reprogrammed with password security, according to GO spokesman Edmund Shea.
