UPDATE: Canadian Military Deaths In Afghanistan

Via CBC NEWSFour Canadian soldiers have been killed in a roadside bomb explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Department of National defense has confirmed. The four were traveling in an armored jeep called a G-wagon when it struck an improvised explosive device, 70 kilometres north of Kandahar city, around 7:30 a.m. local time Saturday. Three of the men died at the scene, near Gumbad, a small outpost established by the Canadians two months ago. The fourth died en route to the hospital at the coalition air base in Kandahar.There are 2300 military personnel from Canada in Southern Afghanistan where they took over full command last February. Since 2002, there have been 15 Canadians killed including a senior member of the diplomatic corps. |
