Not Enough Troops Says Powell - Big Effing Deal!!

On the British TV station ITV, Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the U.S. went into Iraq with too few troops. Think Progress, has the transcript and video. A snippet of the transcript has him saying
I have always been one who favored a larger military presence in an operation to make sure that you can deal with the unforeseen, but in the case of the aftermath of the fall of Baghdad, you had institutions being destroyed, you had ministries being burned down, and I have said on many occasions I don't think we had enough force there at that time to impose order. That's what we were responsible for, because when you have taken out a government, a regime, then you become responsible for the country.
Well big friggin' deal. So Colin didn't approve of the way things were being done. Well if that's the case, why the hell did he help mislead the country, the UN, and the world into an illegal occupation in the first place. He stood in front of the United Nation and on national television spewing forth lie after lie about mobile chemical weapons labs, caches of weapons of mass destruction. I have only one question for this turncoat. How can you live with your conscience Colin, knowing the deaths of innocent Iraqi people and members of your own military family your lies helped cause? I'm sorry but I just don't buy this guy's game any longer. He had the promise of being the most favored and biggest breath of fresh air in the Administration and he totally screwed us over in order to stay in power and suck up to the chimp-in-chief. Every progressive worth their salt knew what we were getting when Bush stole the election and forced himself upon the nation and the world. The only true hope for honesty and integrity in the entire administration was Colin Powell. and he chose the low road. Coming forward now with his feelings IMO is nothing more that self-serving crap. Stop by Think Progress for the entire transcript and the video.

Repub Police Blotter Continues To Grow

Wow it seems to be just one thing after another in the illegal doings of the current and former members of the GOP and this crooked administration. Here is the latest, this time from the Washington Times
WASHINGTON, April 28 — Dr. Lester M. Crawford, the former commissioner of food and drugs, is under criminal investigation by a federal grand jury over accusations of financial improprieties and false statements to Congress, his lawyer said Friday. The lawyer, Barbara Van Gelder, would not discuss the accusations further. In a court hearing held by telephone on Thursday, she told a federal magistrate that she would instruct Dr. Crawford to invoke his Fifth Amendment right against compelled self-incrimination if ordered to answer questions this week about his actions as head of the Food and Drug Administration, according to a transcript of the hearing.
Crawford you may recall was involved in the controversial decision to withold the so called "Morning After Pill", and its' availability as an over-the-counter drug. Using the excuse that he felt it was time for someone else to control the agency, he resigned a quick three months after being appointed. The Times points out however that
The next month, financial disclosure forms released by the Department of Health and Human Services showed that in 2004 either Dr. Crawford or his wife, Catherine, had sold shares in companies regulated by the agency when he was its deputy commissioner and acting commissioner. He has since joined a Washington lobbying firm, Policy Directions Inc.
It never fails eh? Just follow the money and the self-righteous, greedy bastards will eventually be exposed for what they truly are. "Fifth Ammendment" indeed!

    Watergate/Dukester Update

It looks like the Washington Post has picked up on the latest hypocisy prostitution scandal from the Cunningham investigation.
The Cunningham investigation's latest twist came after Mitchell J. Wade, a defense contractor who has admitted bribing the former congressman, told prosecutors that Wilkes had an arrangement with Shirlington Limousine, which in turn had an arrangement with at least one escort service, one source said. Wade said limos would pick up Cunningham and a prostitute and bring them to suites Wilkes maintained at the Watergate Hotel and the Westin Grand in Washington, the source said.
Now that WaPo has picked up on the story maybe the mainstreet corportate media (cable and network) will do likewise although I certainly won't hold my breath on that.

    Watergate Part II

This hotel just seems to be THE PLACE to go if you want to create a scandal. Apparently convicted Republican Rep. Randall "Duke" Cunningham is alledged to have had more than just a money collecting scheme. Now it seems, according to the Wall Street Journal that there was also a prostitution ring in the works to keep Randy and his fellow political buddies happy.
Federal prosecutors are investigating whether two contractors implicated in the bribery of former Rep. Randall "Duke" Cunningham supplied him with prostitutes and free use of a limousine and hotel suites, pursuing evidence that could broaden their long-running inquiry. ---- Besides scrutinizing the prostitution scheme for evidence that might implicate contractor Brent Wilkes, investigators are focusing on whether any other members of Congress, or their staffs, may also have used the same free services, though it isn't clear whether investigators have turned up anything to implicate others.
Is this an example of the "family values" Cunningham and others in the Republican party live their lives by? Interesting. Think Progress also weighs in on this latest Watergate Scandal,
on MSNBC's Scarborough Country, Dean Calbreath of the San Diego Union Tribune - which recently won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the Cunningham case - said that "as many as a half a dozen" members of Congress could ultimately be implicated in the prostitution scandal
They also provide us with a video which can be seen here, and a transcript. And yes all you right wingers out there if any Democrats are involved nail them also. Republican hypocrisy, the gift that keeps on giving.

Waas Clears Up The Rove Timeline

If you're confused about the timeline regarding KKKarl's actions and involvement in the Valerie Plame leak case, Murray Waas does a fine job of putting it all together in the National Journal and cleared up even further over at Firedoglake It sure looks like KKKarl may become KKKarly in the latest spring fashion for Republicans - the orange jump suit.

Neil Young - Living With War

    Listen Free On-line
I also highly recommend you to also visit Neil's Blog at Living With War Blog. You won't be disappointed. We need more like him in the world, and I am proud to say he is Canadian. There are many out there who have criticized Neil because of his past and his supposed endorsement of Ronald Reagan and his arms build up. Well to those of you I say he is more than making up for his past so deal with it. What counts is the here and now. If we start moralizing and demanding a pure as the driven snow backround from all who oppose this illegal war and occupation, not to mention the plans for Iran, then we get what we deserve.
Impeach the President by Neil Young. Let's impeach the president for lying And leading our country into war Abusing all the power that we gave him And shipping all our money out the door Who's the man who hired all the criminals The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors And bend the facts to fit with their new stories Of why we have to send our men to war Let's impeach the president for spying On citizens inside their own homes Breaking every law in the country By tapping our computers and telephones What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees Would New Orleans have been safer that way Sheltered by our government's protection Or was someone just not home that day? Let's impeach the president For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected Dividing our country into colors And still leaving black people neglected Thank god he's racking down on steroids Since he sold his old baseball team There's lot of people looking at big trouble But of course the president is clean Thank God
Rock on Neil and thank you!!

    BOOK 'EM DANNO!!

Rush Limbaugh the BS spewing talking head and water carrier for the Bush crowd was arrested today and charged with fraud to conceal information to obtain prescription. Well I'll tell ya folks, it couldn't have happened to a better person. And before I get all the emails preaching compassion I have one thing to tell you STICK IT!!! This no good piece of crap deserves the same amount of compassion and understanding he gives to others, which is absolutely none The Associated Press is reporting
Limbaugh turned himself in to authorities on a warrant issued by the state attorney's office, said agency spokeswoman Teri Barbera. ..... The warrant was for fraud to conceal information to obtain prescription, Barbera said.
WPTV News Channel 5 in Florida expands on what took place.
As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
Are you effing kidding me? A slap on the wrist and an amount of money that is pocket changed to this slime-ball. Can you imagine if this were just a Joe No Name off the street? Hell, he would have been booked, no bail, and held for as long as possible before finally getting a farce trial and jailed. No, I shed no tears and offer no compassion toward this piece of crap. Not after all the reputations trashed and lives ruined by his filthy mouth for oh these many years.

Is Rove Finally Going Down? Speculation Says YES

After KKKarl was recently moved out as policy chief for King George The Decider, many of us speculated that the real reason for this change, was that Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald had other plans for him. Then low and behold, surprise, surprise KKKarl makes his unprecedented 5th appearance before Fitz's grand jury. The LA Times is reporting
Special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald is believed to be considering perjury or obstruction charges against Rove or charges that he offered misstatements to investigators.
It is also being reported via Raw Story in a transcript from MSNBC, David Shuster will report on Keith Obermann's show "Countdown"
WHILE HIS SUPPORTERS CONTINUE TO PUT ON A GOOD FACE, SOURCES CLOSE TO KARL ROVE SAY THE PRESIDENTIAL ADVISOR IS NOW MORE WORRIED, NOT LESS, THAT HE IS GOING TO GET INDICTED. THE SOURCES SAY ROVE WAS SURPRISED BY SOME OF THE QUESTIONS HE WAS ASKED AND BY THE FACT THE SESSION STRETCHED ON FOR THREE AND A HALF HOURS.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the King's new mouthpiece and Faux News transplant Tony Snow(job) will spin this when the indictment comes down. Word has it that tomorrow may be the day......Here's hoping!!!!

George "The Decider" - In Song

WH Staff Shuffle -- OR -- WH Staff Indictments

Are the recent changes of staff (resignations) at the White House because King George The Decider wants to shake things up? Me thinks not. Sharing my suspicions is Jason Leopold from Truthout.org. Take a look from Jason's article concerning Karl Rove for an example:
Just as the news broke Wednesday about Scott McClellan resigning as White House press secretary and Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove shedding some of his policy duties, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald met with the grand jury hearing evidence in the CIA leak case and introduced additional evidence against Rove, attorneys and other US officials close to the investigation said. ........ Fitzgerald is said to have introduced more evidence Wednesday alleging Rove lied to FBI investigators and the grand jury when he was questioned about how he found out that Valerie Plame Wilson worked for the CIA and whether he shared that information with the media, attorneys close to the case said. Fitzgerald told the grand jury that Rove lied to investigators and the prosecutor eight out of the nine times he was questioned about the leak and also tried to cover-up his role in disseminating Plame Wilson's CIA status to at least two reporters.
FINALLY it looks like Fitzgerald has Karl in his crosshairs. But this also raises further speculation as to what the real reason was for the recent changes in WH staff. Are Andy Card and Scott McClellan being looked at also? Was McClellan participating in the cover-up when he voiced support for Karl Rove to the Wite House Press Corps and is he under suspicion? There is reason to think that if not targets, at the very minimum they could be ordered to testify. If Karl is indicted, wouldn't it stand to reason Fitzgerald would want to know of any conversations (or actions taken) by these two? We can only hope that if Fitz is going to nab Karl, it better be very soon - we sure don't want him out doing his usual smear and slash to Democratic candidates in the upcoming elections. With the amount of Iraq war veterans entering races as Democrats, it is almost a certainty he would pull a "Max Cleland" on them to sully their reputations and diminish their courageous service to their country. Read Jason Leopold's complete article HERE
