Large Power Outage Hits L.A.

A large area of Los Angeles has lost electric power, including downtown and the San Fernando Valley. The city's department of water and power said it was investigating the cause and extent of the outage. The city was investigating the cause and extent of the outage. But Sgt. Catherine Plows, a police spokeswoman, said terrorism was not suspected. Heavy power usage can lead to blackouts. But the weather in Los Angeles was not unsually hot Monday. UPDATE (5:30 PM) KABC Radio in Los Angeles is reporting that 90% of the power has been restored and was caused by an employee error.
